E550 biturbo muffler delete vids
Finally got around to filming some video. Filmed on iphone so not great quality and please excuse my kids laughter.
Sounds much better in person, I'm extremely happy with results.
Cold start:

I can hear the sound from the video. Sounds good to me. How's the idle sound after the car has already been warmed up? Do the decorative tips in your bumper cause any weird sounds like mine? I'm thinking I need to go to a different muffler shop for a second opinion on what to do.

sounds great. Interestingly it sounds very similar to my setup with removed resonators and magnaflow mufflers. your route is definitely easier and cheaper. Only difference I notice is I have the crackles and pops because of the straight pipes.

Thanks for posting - your car sounds great! Did you do anything other than removing the mufflers, like tips? How do you like the highway cruising soundtrack?

Tips are original, just plastidipped black. No other changes, just exhaust.
Highway is nice and subtle, unless you get on it!

That was just the inspiration I needed. After a 40 minute visit to my local custom exhaust shop yesterday I joined the 'muffler delete' ranks. It's definitely louder, but very agreeable. My boys and gearhead neighbors love the added volume too.
BTW, the stock mufflers are huge! Heavy too, I'm sure my gas mileage will improve .1 MPG or so

Man, if only I could pull that sound out of my six banger!
Thanks for posting this...I'm going to go eat ice cream and drink tequila now. Seriously though, great thread mate.

Just found a great new sound - on the highway, hit 3rd gear in 60 and accelerate at WOT until (speed limit) or so. Enjoy a nice 'woosh' sound that used to be undetectable. Everyday driving has more feedback now that I can hear the exhaust note.

nicobaires, I know you said that there was no drone inside, but I just saw people were complaining in different threads about unbearable drone inside the cabin when done muffler delete only. I own biturbo too, and am about to remove the mufflers.
Would you confirm that normal cruising hasn't changed much and the car is still comfortable to drive on long distance on highway?
The result that I want is louder and agreeable sound when in sport mode and pushing hard through 1-4 gears. But otherwise quite car (like it is today) when cruising 65-85mph on highway.

I did the muffler delete and I still can't hear it... it rumbles a bit when you get on the throttle, but for the most part you can't hear it much better than stock. I will say the turbos do make a sweet howling sound (not like a typical turbo sound) when at full throttle... but you shouldn't be full throttle the whole time during long trips lol... shouldn't be. I was just thinking this morning it's a similar type of sound like a TIE fighter, especially in tunnels or under bridges.
I'm thinking of getting electronic cutouts to get that loud sound when I want and quiet when I need.
Hope that helps.
