E 350 4-matic
Floor mat buttons

Hello,
On the weekend I posted pics of my "new 2011 E 350", today a package from eBay arrived with a set of MB OEM black floor mats When I installed them, I found that there were no floor mat buttons on the passenger side. This is a luxury model and the buttons are't broken off, they were never there, the carpet is perfectly smooth. Is this a standard practice in this year and model ? Is there any way to install another type of clip?
Thanks for any help and info.
Tom

I just checked mine MY2014 (May 13 Build date) - it only has the carpet post on the driver side. So there you go.

HOWEVER, when I was purchasing WeatherTech floor mats and based on my model year, it asked "Please select your vehicle's floor mat retention device configuration" - They offered either driver side carpet posts only or both driver and passenger side. I inspected my car and chose the driver side only.

look like it's during middle of 2014 built year the passenger side started to have carpet posts since for 2015 and after, it only had the option with both passenger and driver. Vice versa, for 2013 and earlier, it only offered driver side only.

driver side only. main reason i reckon is mats gets on the way of the pedals at times so driver side needs to be fixed. passengers dont move their feet as often as the driver so yeah.

Drivers side on my 2014 E350 only. You know how it goes the best or nothing!!! The matts on the passenger side do not have holes to accept a post also. Just another way they saved a couple of pennies.

The posts were never installed on the passenger side in any W212 model as far as I know. That ended with the W211 models.

I know you can buy these and install them yourself into the floor carpet. Is that what you did?

My sport model does not have them and the drivers side has a different type of post.

2014 E550 and pin only on driver as well. I was surprise at first and thought it was probably my vehicle configuration that didn't have the pin for the passenger. Reading through, kind of reassuring.

put me down for no pin on the passenger side either - 2011 E550 Luxury trim. Good news is I don't have a problem with it moving anyway.

I know you can buy both the pin for the carpet insertion as well as the button for the mat on EBay, so it is possible to install this setup on the passenger side if one wants to. I am curious now to know if anyone else has these anchors on a W212.

I am so confused now. This extra pin is like a third (and fourth) nipple - most of us don't have one but some do.

Yeah, I am totally confused as well. I thought they went bye bye for good on the passenger side, but appears not for some.

I thought I was pretty clear. Guess I wasn't!Prior to middle of production year 2014, no posts on passenger side.
After middle of 2014 production year, they added the passengers side posts.

Loved the nipple reference.

WOW, I missed this thread before I bought my E... I'm so glad I bought the end of run 2016, as my E350 has all four nipples.

Now, if only MB mounted the outside ambient temperature sensor in a useful position, I would have the perfect car.
