E350
New E350 owner

Just bought my first MB the other day.
It's a 2013 E350
I gave $24,500 for it.
Didn't buy it from a MB dealer but come to find out it is a CPO car fresh off of a lease.
33k miles on the clock.
Still has 15 months of CPO coverage but I can buy the other two years for $1,995 (that's what Jeff quoted me).

I had to choose between a 2012 740i with 56k miles and this E350.
The 740 costs more to insure and was out of warranty so I went with the Merc.
Glad I did.

It just so happened that this car was one the cheapest nationwide on cargurus and it was right in my backyard (The Woodlands, TX)

Here's a pic: http://imgur.com/a/dcbhh

and another...

http://imgur.com/a/vEUGQ

The only thing I want to add is a little subwoofer: https://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosg.../dp/B007AQ2W2Q

But after two days of driving it I'm having issues with the TPMS
Only the rear drivers side tire is OK. All others fluctuate between 29 and 32 PSI.
According to the carfax this car sold and only serviced by MB of North Houston and all service records are up to date so I'm not sure what is going on with it.

Lastly, one of the keys they gave me the car says it is not registered for. Any idea if MB will charge me to program this key to my car? I've heard stories about $300 reprogram costs.

Thanks,

ET

For the TPMS, fill all tires to the proper cold pressure, then in the center display between the spedo, select tpms reset. that'll reset the new reference pressure.

fluctuation is normal as the temperature of the tire changes, I've seen swings as high as 12psi from a cold tire in a 40 degree location to a hot tire in a 105 degree location (long drive).

Does it have 15 months of CPO or factory warranty? If it was sold late in 2013 then it would still be under factory warranty. If you are truly referring to CPO then if you bought the car from a non Mercedes dealer then the CPO warranty did not transfer. If you bought it from a private owner then it did.

Sun vs. shade also

TP may be different if one tire is in shade and one in sun when cold. Recommend using a digital gauge.

On key, the battery in the fob may be weak or dying. Can get a replacement battery at almost any drug, grocery, department store for about $3.00. It's in the manual and about the easiest thing you can do on an MB.
Congratualtions on the new car and I highly recommend sitting down with a pen and paper notepad and go through the Operator's Manual, COMAND Manual and Maintenance Manuals. Lots of information in there and often very detailed.
Happy Motoring!

And as El Cid recommended, read through the manual, as well as lots of info on youtube (incl MB vids) to help "steer" you through the countless features loaded on these cars, not to mention will help clarify what you do and don't have. That will help mitigate against the posting of questions whose answers are readily available ...ask me how I know

And congrats, and enjoy ...loving our "new" '14!

Car was 1st sold November 2012.
It has 33k miles now so I was under the assumption that it'd be under factory warranty until November 2016.
Add the extra year of CPO warranty takes me to November 2017.
Buying two additional years ELW would take me to November 2019.

Is my thinking correct?

I did not buy the car from a MB dealer but it was a dealer not private individual.

I replaced the battery in the key and the car still doesn't recognize it.
I'll have to take the key in to a MB dealer and get it sorted out.

I agree with RTFM. I don't know how to work the volume from the COMAND center knob so I change stations with the knob but use steering wheel controls to adjust volume.
I'm sure I can do both simply by using the centralized knob.

Great car thus far with great power.

These seem more like new car purchase incentives. Do you have a link to the 2 year prepaid maintenance deal?

Thanks for the info!

North Houston MB wants $190 and 90 mins of my time to reprogram this other key I was given with the car.
Just FYI if anyone was curious.

She's a joy to drive.

The CPO warranty was dropped when it went through the dealer. Ask your local Mercedes dealer to confirm. The fact that was certified will facilitate getting the ELW. Would advise getting the two years ELW. November is coming quickly.

Ask the dealer where you brought the car from to pay for the second key's programming.

On the key, is it actually the key for your car or a key for another MB? Did the dealer where you purchased it just give you two sets of keys for an MB without verifying both go to same car?
Years ago I traded in a car and left both keys and the valet key with the sales manager who finalized the deal.
A week later, the woman who purchased it asked if I had the second set since it would require programming. I told her it was probably in the sales manager's desk drawer and to call him and make them pay for it if not.

I believe it's supposed to be cheaper if you buy it within 30 days of getting the car. Once you give the VIN to the guy selling the extended warranty, they can confirm if it qualifies or not. And yes, CPO is only transferable if it is a private party sale, once it goes through a dealer, it expires.

Congrats on your new ride. I just joined the club as well.
The MB incentives sealed the deal for me at the dealer. With .99% financing, my first payment paid by MBUSA, CPO and 2 years free mait, I couldn't beat it.

As to the TPMS question. To confirm, do we actually have TPMS sensors in the wheels or does the car figure the tire pressure through the ABS sensors like on other cars? I'm getting ready to buy new wheels and need to know if I'm going to have to buy or switch TPMS sensors as well.
Thanks

I believe it has actual sensors in the wheels. They're supposed to last 5-7 years so you're probably ok keeping the existing ones in there.

How did you get .99% financing and first payment paid by MBUSA? The link provided only states 1.99% financing and doesn't say first payment paid by MBUSA.

Use a VIN decoder like the following:

http://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Mercedes-Benz

I like all the options. 2013 was the last year they had bi-xenons, they went to LED and the eco start/stop in 2014. Parktronic, driver assistance package, keyless go, power trunk closer, pano roof, folding rear seats, distronics, those are some of the good options.

Also if you're going to buy an extended warranty or get a longer CPO warranty, have the guys mentioned in the extended warranty forum check out the vin to make sure it qualifies, some people have bought cars where it wasn't eligible because it was a previous CPO.
