Door Handle Chrome Trim

Door Handle Chrome Trim
I recently purchased a 2014 E350, equipped with KEYLESS-GO.
The first time I took it to the car wash, the chrome trim on the top of the passenger door handle was torn off. They found the trim but it's pretty much destroyed, turns out it's just plastic. I've attached a picture of the end result, the door handle works correctly luckily.
Is there somewhere I can buy this part other than the dealer? I bet I'm not the first to lose one in the car wash.

I would not know about the trim if its original fitting. But a lot of owners purchase these in a set of 4 and fit them on to the painted door handle to make it look nice. I am thinking about doing mine, but in saying this , i will use the stainless steel ones .

Whoa, I didn't even realize that part could separate and I do a ton of hand washing of my car myself. So I'm surprised I didn't notice the ability to possibly mod that. Definitely can become a creative place to add a unique touch. Hopefully you can make the best out of a bad situation. Wouldn't that be covered under warranty if you wanted dealer to just replace to OE spec?

MB part only available as complete door handle replacement. Depending on your relationship with MB dealership they “may” allow factory warranty replacement. If not, car wash should pay dealership replacement cost – about $220 + labor.

then i remembered i bought these from ebay planning on painting it black but never got to it..
so i just traced the shape onto the cf vinyl and it was easy as.
now back to OPs concern. sadly you have to buy it with the door handle but you might find it cheaper goin to a wrecker.

If there's enough interest, I can make pre cut pieces in either a black or carbon fiber finish that can go right over on top of the chrome door handle pieces.

Had no idea that this came apart. Car should be under warranty unless you exceeded the mileage. Something in car wash hooked onto it and pulled it off. Nothing should have been able to hook it. I would tell dealer there must have been a flaw in it. Does not cost anything to try.

not sure how this would fall under warranty, its more of customer neglect. i reckon you have better chances with the car wash owner than warranty. but its worth a shot if you have good relationship with your local dealership.
