W212 Takata Recall, I CANT EVEN BUY AN E550 AT THE DEALER
ive been trying for months to get an E550 in SoCal and was so close today!! So Close! I found a 2010 for 21000 at Mercedes of South Bay with 60000 miles, black leather, black wood grain, dynamic seat, and 2 owner previously certified, dynamic seat, and night vision. Amazing deal for the climate here. Anyways the dealer pulled the deal off the table even after my credit was run (they said they could do a better rate than my credit union) because of the Takata recall. They said their dealership and partner dealerships can not sell a car with an open recall. Back to the search if anyone is looking to unload their 550 in SoCal! Def want a sedan at this point and colors do not matter, a dynamic seat would be nice but not necessary. Any takers at all?
FFFFFFFF Takata for screwing me in my Lexus and now into getting an E550!!!😡😡😡

yeah it's all e classes from 2010-2013 I believe. Had an hour long conversation with the dealer today about all of this. It's affecting the trade in values and some dealers won't even take it as a trade in. They have a lot of 8 cars right now In their remote lot that they can't send to auction or sell period until that recall comes out.
Thats why I'm now 100 percent looking for a private party 550 in SoCal everyone

STOP THE BUS! Are you saying there is a recall that mercedes will fix at no charge? I'm about to purchase a 2012 E350.
I just went on Mercedes recall page and entered my VIN # but nothing showed up.

Supposedly it only effects certain VIN in the model year range. But I am worried that over time they will expand the recall like other manufacturers has done.

I just ran a quick craigslist search and found several E550s in the area (I'm in the general LA) so shouldn't be an issue. Here's the first one I came up on posted just a few hours ago - very similar to the one you spoke about (same year and miles)

Misleading post - again
This keeps popping up and is misleading.
NOT ALL E Class cars are part of the recall.
Go to safercar.gov and enter your VIN or the VIN of the car you want to check.
I just did it again and there are ZERO open recalls for my car.
You can also call MBUSA customer assistance and they will check for you by VIN. According to them: ZERO recalls for my car.
It may be the dealerships are misinterpreting guidance from MBUSA, which I find hard to believe since it prevents their selling cars. Or maybe they got a better offer from another customer?

Which official website? I don't click on links.
Regardless, if using safercar.gov, need to enter VIN for a specific car. While it does include some 2010-2011 E Class models, not all of them. Mine is a 2010 and is not included in the recall.

El Cid, it's a deeper link to the safercar.gov website.
On the link you can view affected cars by manufacturer that lists included models and year ranges. You are correct, one must enter a vin for the affected years for confirmation while at the same time we explicitly know which years are not included.
(I was simply providing a source for my claim. )

The official MB link is at:
https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/recall
Or you can just google search Mercedes recall, it's the first link that comes up.
That only covers 2010-2011 models and there's a link there that mentions the airbags. The problem is that they still don't have a replacement airbag available yet. And it's true, only some models are affected. My 2011 E350 isn't affected but someone else mentioned that theirs was. Somewhat a luck of the draw.
So if you saw the car at the dealer, run the VIN through and see if it's affected. It's MB dealers that aren't selling them, most other 3rd party dealers are still selling them.

According to safecar.gov my car is affected. Mine is 2011 E350. The site says "recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available "
I called my dealer and they said that Mercedes Has not confirmed this recall so there aren't anything to do now.

PM me and my friend who works at MB Oxnard will help you find one, I'll get you his contact info. The dealership is owned by AutoNation so they have access to cars nationwide so they'll get what you need brother.

There is also a map that shows which MY will be fixed which year. If you are in certain states (I.E. MA where I am), the airbag takes much longer to deteriorate and become an issue, so my 2010 will only be fixed at the end of 2018! I don't see why dealers should have a problem buying or selling these vehicles with this information readily available. And, apparently its not just Mercedes, but many brands whom all use the Takata airbags

it is on the same page where you check to see if your vehicle is part of the recall...posted above in the same thread: https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/recall
