2010 E350 Luxury Sedan, Engine 272 (V6)
Had a "C" Class loaner last week and it was OK, but not what I would spend money for.
Biggest problem is still that stupid tacked on TV screen on the dash.
Most annoying thing was the stop and start which is a real butt kicker - literally. Every time it started up, I felt a "bump" from the lower seat back area.
Still don't like the round vents either as they look so antiquated.

I agree the start and stop is very noticeable. I've even noticed it now when other MB's drive close to me at a red light etc. It irks me and would irritate me if I had one as my DD.

This is my 4th car with the start stop feature. At first, I could not stand it, I would shut it off every chance I get. On my current car, I just leave it on, it is getting to the point where it does not bother me at all. Believe it not, Mercedes' start stop system is pretty seamless compare to BMW or Audi's. I find that the 4 cylinder engine does start up with more vibration than the 6 and 8 cylinder engines. On the E350 and the V8TT, the start stop is pretty seamless.

I have always had a bad connotation of C-Classes. Most recently my service guy gave me a C450 AMG as a loaner as all the E-classes were out. It was so fun to drive and size seemed adequate. I rarely drive the manual mode on mine but the engine and downshift sounds were just so amazing, I never took it off on the C. It really felt like driving a go-cart or like the wheels were on rails. Seriously thought about switching daily...I now have a complete new perspective of a C-Class, well the C450 AMG.
Prior to this loaner they let me have a 2013 Jaguar XF 3.0 liter for a couple of days. A real good car imho. Possible interstate cruiser for me someday.
Want a quite car? Buy a CL550 (not CLS). Would have to be used these days though. Sorry, don't own a E350/550 etc but drove a E250 bluetec as a loaner, and thought it was 'nice' but prefer a BMW 535D over it. That said the E250 bluetec did impress me. I was expecting much less out of it what with being a 4 cyl diesel.
Once had a CLS550 as a loaner. Quite a car. Had a E350 coupe (built on a C chassis I believe) as a loaner. Nice car and wouldn't a E550 coupe be even better? Had a CLA not long ago....best not say anymore about that one.

I was surprised too - I am guessing they put it in the loaner fleet because it had the light designo interior. The car was loaded - MSRP of 71000. The interior sure was gorgeous - thanks to designo it felt like a small S-class. Too bad it has only 4 cylinders.

I for one am happy to get any loaner. And the comment about the C vs Kia, I'll call BS on that. I do have an E and have driven C's. Few weeks ago on a business trip I rented a Kia. Give me the C any day.
Complaining that a C which is considerably less expensive than an E is not up to the E's standard is wasted energy.
The bottom line is this- when you get a C loaner, don't despair and wish for a safe zone. Your car will be returned to you and the earth will resume normal rotation about its axis
Happy Thanksgiving

The dealership which I've bought my last 3 MB's from has gone from loaning a variety of MB's to only loaning C class cars. The only thing I don't like about them is the fact that when I leave them my E550 Cabriolet, I get a lower class of car, and along with that, a lower class of ride, usually no navigation, usually no satellite radio, etc. I understand their concern for saving money, but I would think that they service many more C class cars, than they do other class cars, and I'd have thought that if they gave those C class customers a higher class car, that might pay dividends when that person was in the market for their next MB. I use to look forward to driving a loaner, but since they went to only C class cars, not so much. In fact, if the repair or service is supposed to take under two hours, I'll just bring a book and sit in their waiting room.

The loaners aren't free - cost is built into the price of service new car sales. I'm happy to get anything as a loaner. If it didn't take the dealer over four hours (or longer) to service my car, I probably would wait.
If you don't like the loaner you get, the dealer will probably rent you a higher level car.
