MB loaner
Brought car in Yesterday for service. They gave me a 2016 C300 as a loaner. This was probably the worst loaner I have ever gotten. It had no navigation the ride was bumpy and not quiet. The instrument panels are really terrible for use. I had to get out and look to make sure it was a MB. It says it lists for $40,000. I would not give you $10,000 for it. I bet a Kia drives better than this piece of junk. But I guess I should not complain since they did give me a loaner for free. But WOW. Glad to drop it off and get my ride.

Remember the S class owners say the same thing you said when they get an E class as loaners. Keep in mind that the difference "classes" are made for different price points and different customer expectations. The C class is a fine car for what it is even though I would not buy it.

Let's not get into bashing the C class again.

We had a similar C class loaner a few weeks ago, although it wasn't as nice as a E class, I thought it compete with the A4 and BMW 3 series very well. To be expected, the ride is stiffer than a E class because it handles better than a E class. Less sound insulation equates to more road and wind noise. $40000 MSRP doesn't buy a lot of car now a days, considering a loaded Toyota Camry can MSRP for over $40000.

to each his own i guess.
but pamiboy nailed it. our e class "may be" a piece of junk to s class owners. no offense to anybody. to be fair, i would pick the c class over its equal price range rivals any given day.
i would just be glad if they give me a loaner car that runs well instead of pointing me to the bus stop.

Every time I get a "C" it makes me appreciate my "E" even more. Maybe that's why they do it, so you will get an "E" the next time and they can make more money.
Just glad to get a loaner of any kind, even though I know I am paying for it in the cost of service.

I have always had a bad connotation of C-Classes. Most recently my service guy gave me a C450 AMG as a loaner as all the E-classes were out. It was so fun to drive and size seemed adequate. I rarely drive the manual mode on mine but the engine and downshift sounds were just so amazing, I never took it off on the C. It really felt like driving a go-cart or like the wheels were on rails. Seriously thought about switching daily...I now have a complete new perspective of a C-Class, well the C450 AMG.

Being in sales myself and a first time MB owner, I would think they would try to give you an upgrade on the loaner. ie. Bring in an E-Class, loan you an S-Class. or something like that.
Kind of an upsale!
Recently brought my E350 in to seal the paint and interior. They loaned me a C300. Wife loved it, I was a little disappointed.

Keep in mind that someone have to pay for the loaners. I am sure the dealership will supply everyone a new S class when no one complain about paying for higher service charges.

Moving the customer to a higher dollar unit is not necessarily a good thing. In auto sales, profit is made by the gross profit dollars on each unit sold and not on total dollar sales. Often the profit margin on the sale of a GLA and the financing profit will be more than the dale of an S series sedan.

really? so if you dont get a loaner the price for service goes down?
NO. But neither MB nor the dealer is giving anything away for free. So the cost of loaners is built into the cost of service or sales prices of cars or both. Just as the WiFi, Starbucks coffee, car washes, etc. are.
You could say that those people who do not get loaners are subsidizing those of us who do - or maybe dealer gives them discounts we don't get.
i always thought CLA is a coupe.

I didn't take it as OP bashing the C Class overall. I took it as bashing the low optioned 16 C300 itself.
I've driven a couple and I didn't mind it but mainly the size was what turned me off. I'm due for a B Service as we speak. Debating if it's worth going to the dealer and paying $600 vs an Indy for $240.

I got a '17 C300 loaner and it was A LOT better than the '15 or '16 (I forget) C250 loaner I had in the past. Not sure if the C300 is a turbo I-4 these days (I could hear a turbo, I think), but it was actually a decent car. Mine had navigation, heated seats, pano roof, brake assist (which I ended up using because I was pushing all the buttons and got distracted lol) and the option to turn off ECO mode in the Individual setting, which persisted after turning the car off. Only slight annoyance was having to change to it each time, but that's much better than going back and forth through all the menus to change all the settings I wanted, each time. Plus, manual mode was much nicer than on my E... it actually shifted when I wanted it to, more often than not (but not always). By far the best C-class loaner I've had thus far. I just think it's ugly.

No it really isn't so I opted to go the Indy route. I only gave it a thought since I did it once before so I felt comfortable with the cost. Having the guide of all the things they'd check during a Service B, I felt I could just request those to be done as well at the Indy. I actually only paid $203 with tax this time around at the Indy
Sorry for going OT but no new loaner experience to add since I didn't go to the dealer this time.

When i went in for service they gave me C450. Man that thing was quick, and the handling was amazing. I have not driven a C300 but Kudos to Mercedes for that lovely C450, heck of an engine.
