yes, i'm fully aware of the many ashtray threads on here, and i looked at them and bought parts references in them, specifically in this one, but i still have follow up questions.


a few weeks ago i forgot to lock my car and a nice person taught me a lesson by going through it and kindly removing my ashtray holder with a bunch of coins in it.

i don't smoke but i would like to re-populate my coin collection so i found the above mentioned thread and bought the little rubber "no smoking" thingy... except now when i put it into the ashtray it looks out of place. the opening left by the ashtray has access to down below where i can unscrew something and the rubber mat thing still has these exposed. i'm afraid that if i do put coins in there with high bumps they're going to fly all over and end up inside of my car somewhere.

did i need to buy another piece for there into which the rubber thing would go? or is the rubber thing just not as fully encapsulating of the area as the ashtray?

I cut and pasted the part number from your search .

 

you need to purchase a ashtray if you no longer have it. Then do what I did. Remove the top cover and line the inside then put trim on the top. It will hold all the change you want to put in it.

 

i like the above, thank you, wish i didn't waste 10$ on the stupid rubber thing and just bought the replacement ashtray right away.
