Navigation Update Nightmare

Recently decided to update my navigation on a 2011 E350. Ordered the discs from MB and loaded the first disc. All went well. Took almost 2 hours for the first disc to load. Then prompted me for the second disc, that is when it went downhill. It wouldn't read the second disc no matter how many times I reloaded. Tried to start over with disc one, but no luck, system kept asking for disc two. Call the number on the MB package and they were no help at all. Found out these guys are just contractors and are not with MB. Call the local dealer and he suggested that I pull the fuse for the Comand system to force a restart. Didn't work. Disconnect the battery for about 30 minutes. Restarted the car but all hell broke loose. Every system was failing. From anti-lock breaks to the air bags. Called the dealer again and we tried to reset them one at a time but no luck. Roadside service came out and picked up the car. Anyone been through this?

I have heard this on some other brands of cars. I did my update but to be safe I kept the car running the whole time so there would be no variation in voltage to nav unit.

OK, some good news. All the fault codes cleared without having to do anything while the car was at the dealer. Bad news is they still can't find why the navigation has a problem. They are checking to see if the discs from Mercedes were bad.

Just a comment about my Mercedes dealer. Mercedes of the Woodlands Texas has been amazing. Anthony, the service manger, has gone above and beyond to help me with this issue. What a great dealership.

sorry to hear about the problems. did you get the navigation updated? Does the updated navigation show information regarding speed limits? I have a 2014 e550.

Must be the season. Got a letter from MBUSA about updating and two emails from them as well. $249 with free shipping of the discs. Not worth it to me. Did it once after three years and not enough new to make it worthwhile.
