e550 tire recommendation
Hi everyone, I've searched but thought someone could provide some specific advice giving my situation. I need to replace my tires on a 2011 E550 4MATIC, I live in CT so there is some snow to contend with, and I drive about 30k miles a year 95% highway. As much as I like to think I need a tire with high-performance, in reality I need a solid all season tire that is comfortable with good durability, and I'm leaning towards a michelin or conti...any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would suggest Michelin A/S 3+ or DWS 6 but you said you want comfort and good durability so I suggest you look in the "grand touring" tire category on tirerack. Should be easy to make a decision then

The Conti OEMs are pretty good and last a long time - my wife got like 50K miles out of hers. Otherwise, I would go with the DWS.

A contrarian opinion on the Contis
I liked the performance and ride of the Contis but they wore out very quickly, 15K miles. There are several reviews on Tire Rack with similar complaints now. I switched to the Michelin A/S.
I don't understand how some folks get great tire wear and others so poor on the same tire. I check tire pressure religiously and keep them at the MB spec. Alignment has been done too. I got nice even tire wear on the Contis but they wore out too soon. Maybe Continental makes a bad batch sometimes????

Loved DWS on my previous 2010 E550 4Matic except a bit of floaty/mooshy feeling during cornering and flat spots after cold nights (soft side wall?). I have A/S 3+ on 14 E550 4Matic and it feels more sure footed and no flat spots. Have not experienced its snow performance yet (DWS was good) but A/S 3+ rain performance has been exceptional.

I have RWD and got 25K on the OEM Pirelli rears
Depends if they're RWD or 4matic. The 4matic you can rotate the tires, the RWD model has different front and rear tires so you can't rotate them so you get half the life out of them. The inner part of the front tires tends to wear the most. MB designed the car to go 100+ on the autobahn and the tires seem to be set up for that even though you can't really go that fast in the US.
