How to scan radio presets from command knob...
Does anyone know how to do this?
I can scan the presets from the steering wheel, but I would prefer to be able to use the round control knob. My wife's new GLC can do this.
Currently if I rotate the round control knob on my E350 or bump it sideways, it scans to the next tunable station, but not my presets.
Maybe there is a setting somewhere I'm missing?
Thanks

Thanks, but not quite. That requires multiple steps to bring up the preset menu, scroll down, then select the station you want.
When a song comes on that I don't like, I want to bump or rotate the knob and just get to the next station so I don't have to take my eyes off the road. This is how my wife's GLC works.
I can scan presets with the buttons on the steering wheel if I'm in the "Audio" mode, but then I lose the digital Speedo display. Hence, my desire to use the command knob.

I haven't figured out a way to use the comand knob yet. I use the digital speedo display too and switch presets using the keypad (quick setting) as konigstiger pointed out. I've gotten used to it so no need to take eyes off road.

Personally I would like a dedicated button for browsing presets. It's too many clicks back and forth on the steering wheel so I don't fool with it. Talk about more time your eyes are off the road.
Funny how they make it easy to seek or tune with dedicated buttons/knobs when listening to radio while other cars give you dedicated buttons to switch presets but make it harder to tune. I can't remember the last time I used the tune function.

I used to use the speedo display for audio surfing as well, but recently have switched to the knob for that so I can have the ESP control up and available at the touch of a button... because I'm always turning it off whenever I turn on S mode, except in inclement weather I guess. Oh, and I don't listen to the radio... just BT audio.

Having dedicated seek buttons by the volume control is ok, but tuning a station by manually rotating the command knob is useless.

I don't see what the problem is. I use the buttons on the dash to select my 8-9 preset stations all the time. I can simply do that with one push of a button .... (well two, if you are in any mode other than radio). If you are too concerned about that then use the voice control.

It's just inconvenient having to look to see what preset station I'm listening to, take my eyes off the road, reach over to the small buttons and hit the next preset button, preview the station, reach back over and hit the next preset button, preview again... and repeat until I find a song I like.
Having my arm resting on the center console, it would be much more convenient bumping or rotating the command knob to go to the next preset. I can do that by feel without taking my eyes off the road. Since the GLC can use the command knob to scan the presets, I was hoping my E series could also be set up the same way.
If you don't channel surf or just listen to one station, it's not a big deal. My previous cars always had a set of buttons dedicated to the radio on the steering wheel to scan the presets.

my listening habits with the radio are about the same. I keep flipping back and forth for a little while and if nothing sticks I switch to BT streaming or ipod. Using the keypad has been working for me. I don't even have to look at it to flip thru them all. But it would be better to have a simple up/down button without losing the speedo.

On my 2016 E250, there are options in my command under "radio" like "internet radio", "fm radio" and "preset stations". If I select the latter, I can then use my control knob to scan just my presets. Hope that helps.

At the bottom of my screen I have RADIO, but nothing interesting under there. The PRESETS, just has the list of preset stations. From there you would have to scroll down to the one you want, then press the button to select that station.
Thanks for trying...

I use the buttons on the dash or the arrows either side of the on/off/volume button on the dash. Actually I never listen to AM and only about three stations on FM.
I am using a "free" trial offer from Sirrus/XM right now, but even then I have the six stations I listen to on presets and mostly use the buttons.
I do on occasion set the center instrument display on audio and use the up/down arrows on the S/W. As soon as trial is over, I'll stop that.
Mostly I listen to the 1,000 songs in the Music Register.
