9days CPO 2014 E350 4m, two tire bubble.
Hi, I just purchased 2014 E350 4m 9days ago, it's amg 18" wheel and continental tire, I drop off car for seat repair and dealer called me my car has bubble on side of tire, front and back passanger side and ask me to replace it, tire price $299 each, the car was driven 200miles since i purchased as CPO & 9 days, front tires were new tires. I would understand if it been months since i purchase but it's only been 9 days with 200 miles, the service center is dealer i purchased car from. In this case any advice? Is there anything i can ask dealer about? just replace at dealer or local tire shop?

You just gave them how much for this car last week, and there's already issues with it? Rhetorical question. Tell them they need to fix it, and if they give you the runaround, go to the dealer and speak with the manager (start with your salesman). I wouldn't pay a penny for them giving you potentially defective products. Few more months and more than 200 miles, I'd say it's on you to fix, but 9 days is too soon.

Well, I talked to dealer and they said CPO inspection should have inspect all tire conditions before my purchase, but my seat bottom was rip into part and seat condition is also part of CPO inspection, which spontaneously make me thinking about condition of tires. Anyway, dealer offer me waive labor for tire... same tire sell for $179 per tire @ tirerack, and dealer charges me $299 per tires.

That sucks ..if they're not paying for it, then def go with tirerack! You might as well upgrade on tires and have them shipped to a local tire shop for installation for a lot less in labor!

I've had multiple bubbles over the years with the AMG rims and Conti tires. Plus Airmatic. My eyes aren't too good, and I can't tell what brand tire that is. In any event, you would have felt that pothole big time.

Check the thread that mentions the $130 off service coupon. Not sure if that would also include parts.

I don't really blame them for not covering it. Did you look at the tires before you drove off the lot? Bubbles and flat tires are pretty common when you have 18" wheels. On my other car, I've had 3 flat tires in the span of 2 years. Also I hope your rim isn't bent, might be on the inside, but I'm sure they'll tell you when they replace the tire.

^ yes, check for a bent rim, typically on the inside of the barrel where it is weakest as Cetialpha5 says. I have had several of those as well since the road conditions here in Chicago are the worst imaginable.

there is curb rash on your rim in the picture from what I can tell, CPO cars are not sold with any curb rash on them, rims are reconditioned as part of the process (mine was and all the CPO cars I looked at too)
your answer may lie within the curb rash

Perhaps it is time to get Micheline AS3+. Mine came with continentals, had a puncture on one of tires while all 4 tires were still relatively new, just replaced all 4 with AC3+. From my personal experience, AC3+ feels literally better in all aspects, definitely worth the money.

I'm somewhat underwhelmed by the ContiProContact as my CPO had a bubble on the inner tire (245-40-18) that became apparent shortly after purchase....I didn't hit any potholes.
What is the general consensus on
Continental DWS Extreme (currently using on a different car- very happy with them)
vs
Michelin Pilot A/S 3
vs
BFG G Force Comp 2 A/S

I opted for the rim and tire protection when I bought my CPO at the beginning of the month. Glad I did. It covers up to 4 rim rash fixes and replaces the tires. We have a lot of pot holes and my friends with run flats are always replacing tires.

If you go to tirerack, you can read reviews on the tires. I think the DWS get top rankings. Only thing with the Michelin's is that they have a 97 load rating instead of the 93 on the Contis so some people say that the extra load makes them stronger and they handle potholes better. As others mentioned, Michelin's are now A/S 3+.

Bought my 2014 E3504M about 3 weeks ago with 29K. Service records obtained with the car indicate that at least one of the OE Continental had been replaced due to a bulge in the sidewall. Over this past weekend, my wife suffered two sidewall blowouts simultaneously while out of town. MB roadside assistance had the car taken to MB of Nashville, where I decided to replace all 4 tires with the Michelin Pilot A/S 3+. Initially, they wanted $50 per tire over the Tire Rack Price, plus another $200 for the wheel alignment. I will have to say, after some back and forth, MB of Nashville came down about $200 and documented a problem with the rear rotors, which I plan to have addressed at the selling dealership.

Hope the wife (car) are undamaged. A double blowout on a car without all the safety features that a Mercedes has could spell disaster. Kudos to you and the dealer for the negotiations and the reasonable pricing. Hard to say if this is a pattern for Continentals, it's a good reminder for us all to do a visual inspection of the tires and the exterior in general. Pilots do it as a matter of safety, that's good enough for me. I've decided that while extremely large rims may look nice, the safety, damage proneness and resulting expenses have convinced me to not go there. San Diego has way too many potholes, dips and other road issues to risk it. Best wishes with the Michelins.

I had the same thought on CPO's. Also seems possible that the tire was damaged at the same location as the rim and maybe not a mfg defect. I would sure look at ensuring the rims are straight.
