Every time we get a storm like this, I feel like getting an SUV! Just dug my benz out..for some reason my wife said my front wheels were not spinning only rear when I was reversing. I have a 4matic..any idea? I was reversing out of my parking spot and the traction light was coming on as well..

Traction control is designed to stop wheel spin, so........ turn it off

Snow tires in my area were sort of academic in my county today- only "essential" vehicles were permitted on the roads until 4 PM

What do you mean but not spinning? They weren't rolling - they were locked? Or the were rolling, but didn't loose traction?
