Michelin Pilot AS3
Continental ExtremeContact DWS have always been highly rated in comparative reviews and are generally considered the best performance for the $. Last I checked, Tire Rack was having a close-out sale on them at incredible prices. I've had them on other cars in the past and liked them. However, the last set on my E350I got wore out in about 15K miles so I've switched to the AS3 which almost every comparative test lists as the top choice but more expensive then the Contis

I have the Pure contacts on mine. Seems ok, I think the previous owner got some pretty life out of them too. Found them at this one place for $126 a tire with free shipping. I bet none of the local stores that offer price matching could match it.

Not cheap, but a night/day difference from the stock Continental's in EVERY way. My biggest complaint about the Continental's was the noise, way too much tire noise on the highway.
The Michelin's not only gave the difference of going from a noisy room into a quiet library, but the road grip in the dry/rain is vastly superior.
There are many things to save money on, tires are not one of them IMO.

My last E350 had Pirelli MOE. I found them to be a little noisier than the Continental MOE on my current E550. If I had to replace my tires I would consider Michelin Pilot Sport AS3, or MOE based on my personal experience. Also, have you checked Costco?

I've got DWS on a couple cars, and the advantage is they are a smooth riding and quiet all season performance tire. That combo is hard to find, which is why I went to them.

I have Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S and I love them. The Pirelli's I had on when I bought the car were shot so I can't fully compare. However, I've been through multiple snowstorms, tons of rain, and had some long summer rides at high speeds with a RWD model. I would recommend again based on my experience.

I trust Tirerack for my tires. Michelin pilot sport A/S 3 plus (current version from A/S 3) are rated top in the ultra high performance all season category. DWS 06 is an amazing tire but Michelin did a great job improving snow performance on the new A/S 3 plus which makes it The best all season out there. However, they're more expensive lol. It really comes down on how you drive. The performance of the A/S 3 plus in dry or wet is way superior than any other all season tire. If you don't drive like maniac than DWS 06 should meet and exceed your expectations across the board.

Previously had the original Continental DWS, which I loved. It was time for new tires several weeks ago and I went Michelin A/S3 since Americas Tire said they had a high rating.
I tried the Michelins AS3s for a week before I had them removed for the Continental DWS06. I wasn't a fan of the ride of the Michelins, felt like a stiffer carcass which transferred too much of the road to me/passengers. I have a Corvette, custom this and that (rides low and hard) so when I ride the E-Class I want a supple ride (not lazy, which the DWS06 are FAR from) and Continentals have been the best balance of performance and comfort. Just my opinion.
I love the old DWS and the new ones as well. Nothing wrong with Michelins just not my cup of tea in the specific model for my Eclass.

I had the A/S 3's on my other car. I thought they were fine, but the fronts ended up wearing out, got about 30k out of them even though I rotated them. Also the stiffness might due to the extra load rating. I think they're 97Y tires and the Continentals are 93V. The extra load makes it stiffer which can be good or bad. Some claim that they got flats all the time on the Continentals. The flats that I got on the Michelins were due to bent rims (bubble) and nails.

I had similar issues but other than that I like them.
I have a new 2016 wagon that came with 245/40/18 Pirelli Zero Nero All Weathers and I have been very impressed with them but way too early to say yay or nay.

Are those run flats? Not sure about the price, I tend to stay away from them because they use to have a history of riding harder, not lasting as long and are more expensive. The manufacturer uses them to avoid putting in a spare tire which reduces your fuel economy. It's a compromise where they really don't care as much that they stick you with a higher bill later.

Just replaced my Conti Pro with Michellin Pilot Sport A/S3+ and verry happy with it.

No, they aren't run flats. Mine were fine. I had no other issues other than they didn't last. I agree with the other poster that they are excellent performing tires but will add again that my new Pirelli Zero Nero All Weathers are very impressive in early going and I'm a Michelin guy.
