I love the clean elegance of the E550 coupe but also like the AMG name. My car does have the AMG sport package plus a few other AMG parts. The only exterior change I'm considering is to add a chrome AMG badge on the right side of the trunk opposite the E550 emblem like the one in the link below (and I fully understand that ebay and Mercedes probably don't belong in the same sentence).

What do the members of this forum think about adding this emblem?

In the early days when the AMG was a small two person owned company who specialized in tuning Mercedes engines they added the AMG badge to the right of the trunk lid to signify the car had an engine tuned by them.
And that is what the AMG badge still means on the right of the trunk lid.
Mercedes bought the company and then started their AMG- line with all sorts of other AMG trimmings like wheels etc. But if you add the AMG-badge to the right of the trunk lid it is telling others the engine in the car is an AMG engine. That would be a shame if the car did not have one.

I appreciate everyone's comments. I asked for opinions and that's what I received. I've decided to not add the AMG badge but instead paint a circa 1977 Trans Am screaming chicken on the hood. Peace out.

Up in Bandon, OR, you'd get some street cred for producing less CO2 among the granola crowd so prevalent over there???? I don't know. While you are at, why don't you paint your decals green?

Believe it or not it was Trump 56%/ Clinton 35%in the election last Nov. in Coos County. That said why would I want green decals on my E550 when the car didn't have any? BTW I don't eat GRANOLA!
