So this happened...
Sorry if the pics are too big... Was driving in pretty heavy traffic this weekend and some guy cut off this Chevy, who then swerved into me to avoid him... mission accomplished, I guess?
No one injured, except all the tiny pieces my heart fell apart into... of course, I called the police and they found him at fault, so insurance is gonna fix everything, but in the meantime I can't put my summer wheels on this weekend like I had planned (the worst part of all!)... oh well, it is what it is.
Funniest part was, when we got hit, my girlfriend was in the passenger seat and she flailed her arms up all dramatically and curled into the fetal position and was all like "omg we're gonna dieeee" lol hilarious... it was just a tap.

twice on the same side. Ouch! Sorry to hear about that. At least you will have confidence in the body shop - maybe it should be buy one, get one. What about the guy who cut off the Chevy? Was he anywhere to be found?
Many years ago, we hit a deer on the way home. 3 weeks later we get the car back from the body shop and hit another deer within a few days. The look on the body shop guy's face was priceless. Thankfully we've been deer-free for years.

That guy kept going and probably never looked back... that's how it goes in the DC area. Change lanes, cut everyone off, and keep it moving... sometimes even if (or especially if) they trade paint lol

Hate to see the damage, glad to hear all are OK. Smart to call the police right away and have them witness scene, collect statements and assess fault. Too many times I've had the other party apologize and admit fault on-scene, only to have them later claim I was at fault to their ins co... without a passenger or other witness, he said she said, hate to be a burden to police for something so incidental, but I've learned the hard way it's smart to get police involved and have them assess the scene and collect statements right away. Also, dash cam FTW, may have also caught the douche completing the unsafe lane change that caused all this.
Good luck with the repairs and happy driving.

I read somewhere in this forum that the dent in the rear fender on the door side is very difficult to fix unless just Bondo is used, of course.

Make sure when you file the claims, you ask for diminished value. Once a car is in an accident, it isnt worth as much as one that has a clean history. They should pay you for that.

The damage on the wheels are just where his tire rubbed against mine... can't tell in the pic of his car, but his sidewall is completely shaved down... don't think there's any actual damage that can't be buffed out with some effort. Insurance may want to replace it anyway, who knows.
As for the rear quarterpanel, I'm sure that will be the hardest part to fix... I'm going to ask how they plan to take care of that. Really hope they don't go the bondo route, but we'll see.
And thanks for the heads up about the diminished value... didn't think of that before but you're right.

That sux. Glad everyone is ok and your lady is hilarious...Mines does things like that too turning a mole hill into a mountain lol.
I have a dash cam running at all times for about a year now. It makes me feel safer in case of a he said she said type of event. Good luck
