A/C smell
My new 2017 E class has a bad smell coming from A/C (vinegar like or dirty sock smell). Took it to the dealer but they dismissed the issue. Any suggestions?

How long have you had the car? Seems odd to get a smell on a new car.
I get a similar smell about 12-18 months after a cabin filter change on my 2011. Lysol is a temporary fix for me. The dealer has multiple procedures to address this issue - they can spray the ducts, spray the evap coil directly, change the filter, etc. They are just blowing you off.

I always run my fan at high speed after turning the Ac off before I park my car. I have done this with all my cars to prevent any moisture from causing smells. May be in my head, but my ac never smells in any of my cars.

Here's a video I found on YouTube that specifically shows how to get rid of the AC odor on a W212 E-Class. Looks messy though. The video also shows you how to replace the cabin air filter.

Evaporator coils need to defrost (just like your refrigerator does)
I never had the issue in CA or NV, but in high-humid areas, when you turn off the engine with AC on, the frost will drip down the ducts, filters and whatever else and left overnight will grew mildew.
Good idea in those climates it turn AC off 2-3 minutes before reaching home in the afternoon.

FWIW I fixed my smell - posting on a couple of these related threads in case anyone needs help. Used professional equipment (Liqui-Moly A/C stuff). Didn't drill, just removed panel under glovebox, removed cabin filter, used tube and sprayed on evaporator. 15 minutes tops, no smells whatsoever (I had bad smells like others, plus the smell left behind from my melting speakers...guessing that smell was trapped on filter). Anyway, no smells, and the equipment is reusable so I have enough fluid to do it several more times if the smells ever return. Or, if you're in the Houston area, I'll hook you up! PM me if you want more info or help.
