Diver Assist features turned off for a while.
Hello guys,
I did CLT to ATL weekend trips twice in the past month. I always use the driver assist features while driving far distances.
Yesterday, it was raining like anything, and less than 70 miles to my destination, the Distronic Plus gave up on me and gave me, they are unavailable and look for manual.
not even regular cruise control worked.
I DID NOT see aux battery warning/error, but, they don't turn on again.
I thought I have to pull over and restart the car, but, after 5 miles, they turned back again.
Is that normal?
My command got a recent firmware update, 3 weeks ago.
Does driving in heavy rain for more than 'xx' mins stops the features for a while?
Battery Usage: I did not use adaptive headlights even, A/C is at 71, 1 speed fan, speakers are running at 50% volume and the nav display is turned off, as I don't need it anymore for the ride(all of these should run on the main battery, not aux).
Update/TL;DR: Learned that, due to bad weather, these systems might give up some time, but they will get restored in around 30mins, while the vehicle is still running.
It depends, on the noise(Due to heavy rain)., heavy truck traffic, slush/snow, dirty windshield, etc.

Mine did the same thing while driving through Arizona. Had a ton of bugs on the front end. Distronic shut off for a good 30 min but then all of a sudden I tried again and it started working. Had dealer check for error codes and none were found.

mine does too, it seems it happened in heavy truck traffic. I thought perhaps all the electronic "noise" sensors being bombarded by information shut it down? for sure happened in teh winter with heavy slush and snow build up

When we have snow the Parktronic goes bonkers. I just turn it off. These things all rely on good weather for the most part, so be glad you live in the South.

Yes, and bad weather is the main culprit, but, that bad weather was there for past 50miles, at 75mph my vehicle speed already, I was like, why did it stopped now, and since, I'm new to the vehicle, it kind of scared me for a min.
It's all good, now.
I might take it to the dealer, just to check out the codes, if there are, any. But the dash didn't throw me any errors after that, and the functions work fine, as usual.

I'm sure everything is fine. You will find out with MB cars that turning them off and restarting will fix most electrical gremlins. I have had to reboot these cars so many times it has just become normal procedure when something is wonky. I cant remember ever being disabled in any MB and I guess that's why I keep buying them.
