E350 2014 Auto Start/Stop is intermittent
Purchased this car as a CPO with 22K miles. Has worked great, but the auto Start/Stop works intermittently. I drive the same commute to work every day. Some days, the green light goes on and stays on and the auto start/stop works the whole commute, other days, it just doesn't. Have brought it to the dealer three times and they really haven't been able to resolve the problem or improve it.
Is this normal behavior?
Any ideas on how to resolve?
Thanks!

There are about 8-10 parameters that need to be met for the ECO display to turn green and the start stop function to work. Check your owners manual and it will tell you in more detail. I notice the same thing with mine. When all conditions are met it will work.

I know what you mean...mine works intermittently too. But I am not complaining...lol. I am glad it doesn't work.
I know, if the A/C or compressor is running, the engine can't necessarily shut itself down all the time.

ECO doesn't come up until few mins, after we do a cold start, unless you trickle charge it to 100% before moving out of the garage, probably..!
OP can let it run the vehicle for few miles, turn down the A/C to minimal, and see if that works.

Mine is intermittent too. On my way to work this morning it didn't turn green until about 20 miles into my journey and it was in the mid 40's when I left. On my way home it didn't go green until almost 40 miles into my trip home and it was in the high 50's then. Light steady rain both ways, and cabin temp was set to Auto/Zone 72 degrees.
So your guess is as good as mine

I am learning my ECO and what I noticed that it will work on first few miles, when engine is colder, but once the engine gets to 90C (we are reaching 100F those days) the ECO will not work.
Than tonight coming back, the ECO did kill the engine and AC was still blowing cold for well over a minute till the light changed.
Do we have electric AC ?

But I'll wait for the answer from other members.

I will jump right in here with you guys. My ECO remains yellow most of the time and quite frankly I'm happy and will take my time complaining to anyone about it. I drive pretty aggressively and from what I have read the start/stop driving feature isn't comfortable around aggressive drivers. Haha!

My previous 2014 E350 rarely had ECO engage due to short drives. The starter battery was replaced when at startup the dash displayed Aux. battery malfunction. After that the ECO display on the dash would turn green after about 5 miles of driving. The ECO function would work once, and the dash light would turn back to yellow until driven more. IMO the more high draw power for AC, heated seats, etc. The longer it will take to charge the started battery for ECO to operate.

The heated seats, A/C, power seats, mirrors, windows, headlights, radio/stereo, everything else rely on the main battery, like all other cars.

I agree with nc211 comments on the brake setup, could be better. I did go with blank vs drilled rotors however.

not to rub it in, but, my ECO came within half mile of driving, after a cold start(overnight). So, you may want yours get tested.
The only time I feel Auto start/stop sucks is when I'm behind someone at the yield sign or the office entrance, where they send one car at a time*.
