Airmatic saved me again?
Maybe it's part placebo and part real but yet again I had to drive thru a flash flooded area. The past several months, I stay in S suspension 90 percent of the time since the bulk of my commute is highway. Only when I have 4 passengers do I switch to Comfort.
In North Jersey we had flash flood text sent out late this afternoon. So when I left work I put the ride in "C" just in case. Extreme downpour but the highway ride home was standard heavy rain scenario. Once in the city portion I had to go thru 2 flooded type streets. I saw 4-5 cars turn around. So I raised the car up again and had to stay around 20 mph to keep momentum. Luckily being able to raise the car to it's highest level got me thru both spots.
Even with the E all the way up it still felt like water was 4 inches over the bottom of the door. I think next time I might just turn around lol.

It takes less than a second for the engine to suck the water.
I experienced that with W211 this spring and now am on the market for new engine.
Good part of W212 is not only front spoiler that diverts water on the side, not up, but air intake is on the top of radiator, when W211 has them 1/2 way up the radiator.
I have a feeling I was not the only one with the water problem

My final conclusion is that in case that happens again and you are not really into walking the route first - shift the transmission to 1st gear and just barely roll it.
water splashing on the hood should be red flag to intimidate shut the engine off, unless you have snorkel.
I was also thinking that removing the inlet duct and letting engine suck the air from the bay would be good idea.
Just in case ...

Wow. Keep an eye on your car for the next couple of days. I never drive through deep water, even with the 2 airmatics I owned.

Combination of placebo and testing your luck. As mentioned in the previous thread, airmatics raises the car about an inch, which is nothing considering how hunkered down the car is by default.

I remember someone saying before that it's really not that high as it is perceived to be. It might have been you who had the actually specs.

I def. will keep an eye out. I pushed it a little this morning and everything seemed good so far. My town took a pretty big hit. My daughters school had some damage to the roof causing them to close for the rest of the week. It was odd getting so much rain in a short period of time.

Glad it worked out. I love airmatic, I used it weekly, as I have a very rough road getting to the lake house...sure seems like >1" to me....
