Got door slammed!

Happened yesterday and I am pissed. I saw the people, but didn't see the damage until I got home.

Any suggestions on how to repair this best?

Sorry to hear. Happened to me too, and I made a post documenting my experience: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...aged-help.html

That stinks. Have your dealer repair or get some touch up paint and attempt your own repair. My only hint that works for me on touch ups is to use a paper match stick to apply the paint instead of that nylon brush that comes in the paint container. The torn end of the paper match lays down a very small amount of paint and is better controlled than a brush. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing - I reached out to my dealer today and awaiting a response.

I hate folks who aren't careful opening their doors and ding other people's cars.

My wife had a big 3 inch dent on the door of her X3 about two months ago. It looked like some paint may have come off (white car with a big black 3 inch mark plus deep bent in the sheet metal).

Got an appointment with the paintless dent repair guy, he came out to our home and about an hour later he says it's 90% repaired, but when we look at it, we can't tell there was ever any damage. He not only got the sheet metal straight again, he also buffed the black paint/scratch out.

Check with your dealer to see who they use for paintless dent repair and give them a try.

I've used our guy 3 or 4 times already for door dings. Every time he has been able to fix it to the point where you can't tell there was ever any damage. He works for all the local lux car dealerships.

You are welcome. Good luck with the outcome. I know how frustrating it is.

is the paint scratched ? can't tell from the pic .....

if they just left a mark, you can probably buff it out with a good compound, polish then wax...

I was walking back to my car with the family and when we arrived there was a black benz next to mine with a family getting in. The mother looked flustered and I had no idea why. I walked around the other side of the car as she was blocking the path on the driver side to get to the trunk.
Then they took off really quick, even going down the wrong way in the parking garage.

I was behind them on the high way and when they saw me behind them, they pulled to the side lane, which I thought was strange.

Then when I got home I wiped down the car with a micro fiber cloth and spotted the mark. I showed my wife and she was like "oh, yes they looked guilty".

Anyway, my dealer had a look at the picture I sent and he expects it to be a free buff out job. There is no dent, but the scratch is slightly rough, so I guess it went through a few layers.

If there is no dent, its an easy fix.

From the picture, it looks like they left their black paint on your car.

You could probably get it out yourself with a wax that has slight abrasives in it or a polish.

I went to the dealer this morning. Turns out it is deeper than I thought and a buff out didn't work. They did a free touch up.

However, properly fixing it would cost about $400.

I hope the touch up is satisfactory. I would not spend $400 to fix a door ding, but that's just me. Others would spend it.

Your "ding" looks a lot better than mine did. The touch up worked for me, and my damage was a lot worse. Do you have pics of the finished product?

What exactly did they say is involved in "properly fixing it"?

I'm in Central Coast CA. The guy I've used multiple times is from Perfect Touch 831 648 1542. It's a husband/wife operation. He can come out to your location.

Price depends on the # of dings and location of them. It starts at $150. If you have multiple dings on the same sheet of metal (i.e. same door) then each additional ding is $10 or $20 depending on severity.

The most recently one we had was about a 3 inch long vertical ding on the rear passenger door near the crease. He wasn't sure he could get it out since it was so close to a metal crease, but after about an hour, he says he got 90% of it out. But to us we can't see any evidence there was ever any damage in that area.

thanks for the info.
Recently, my uncle's car('09 C300) got bumper scuffs by another car.
They got it fixed, outside the insurance, for 350$; I saw the car and he did a good job though. But, 150$ and doesn't need to take the vehicle anywhere is a nice option.
One of the perks or Bay Area/California, I guess. Mobile services.

Let me take pictures this weekend.

I'm in Japan, but my Japanese is not perfect, so I didn't quite get what they will do for $400, but the result will be a perfect, unnoticeable touch up.

The free touch up is noticeable, but I can live with it - for now anyway.
