Free Nav Update...
Just received email from local MB Dealer:
"Whether you’re taking a vacation or driving to a new part of town, it’s important to know where you’re going. Since your Mercedes-Benz vehicle is equipped with a navigation system, getting there is easy. All you have to do is keep your system up-to-date. Your vehicle is eligible for three years of free navigation updates. Come in to Mercedes-Benz of West Houston to receive your navigation update at no cost.*
*The COMAND® navigation system includes map updates at no charge for the first three years. Code 502 (navigation map updates included for 3 years) expires three years and three months after vehicle build date."
Wow, I didn't know about this free 3 yr nav update. If this is legit, I'll wait until close to the 3 yr mark to get upgraded...

Can't recall the year they started to offer that. It may have been 2014 or later. But yes you can get it done anytime an update comes out during the first 3 years. So it is not one-time use (unless that is the only update that happens to come out).

They usually come out with an update every year so I believe you get an update every year until after the 3 years, 3 months is up. So depending on when you buy it, you might be able to squeeze in an extra update or not.

I have a 2009 w212 and I was advised that it's free. Basically as long as your system doesn't needn't DVD for the maps to run ( mine needs DVD for updating...but once updated no need to keep DVD) - it is free. Going there tomorrow for service. Will confirm!

You don't mention what country you're in, but I don't believe that's the case in the US as there was no W212 in 2009. There was a switch over sometime in 2011 where a pin code was required, but early 2010 and some 2011 just needed the DVD for the update. People use to pass it around but those threads got killed as it was deemed against forum rules.

I believe it is for 2016 and up, according to the service guy I talked with.

The interwebs confirm it is 2015+ in US http://mb.navigation.com/cms/page.MY...en_US/MBNA/USD

Thanks! I've gotten in contact with the service rep at the dealer and informed him of this information. Apparently Mercedes had a computer down problem over the weekend, so they weren't able to get any of the work I wanted done. Hopefully they'll be able to do the navigation update, too. They did a VIN check and the navigation update didn't show on it, but they also had just done a computer update at the dealer, so maybe it was some kind of missing information as a result.

I received the same email as “NickTH” last Friday for my 2017 E300 sedan. This is my first Mercedes, so I presume this email means that there is a map update available for my vehicle. Anyhow, I have an appointment to take my car to the dealer tomorrow morning.

I now have a navigation update as well, though the update says it is 2016. I don't know if the dealer has a 2017 version for my car yet. I have until March 2018 for free updates, so hopefully I'll be able to get one more.

After receiving the same email, I took my 2017 E300 to the dealer this morning (I scheduled the appointment last Friday). After waiting 1 1/2 hours, I was told that my navigation system is using the latest update and nothing is currently available for it. I don’t understand why MB sent me the email.
Note: my navigation uses V2.0
Has anybody else with a 2017 had a similar experience?
