I'm considering to buy a 2011 E350 with 84k miles on it, but seller said the engine fan won't shut off. I initially thought it may be a bad thermostat that is not telling the fan to shut off. I figured I'll ask experienced owners for advise.
Is this a possible easy fix or could it be something expensive.
Has anyone experienced this?What is the solution/fix?

Don't understand why he would try to sell a car with that issue. Have him get it diagnosed before you buy it or find another car. It could be something simple or complicated. I assume the fan is controlled through the front SAM and maybe it is faulty and needs replacement. Could be a host of issues.

Maybe that's the only issue but it seems when I've encountered a seller that calls out a specific obvious unfixed problem (because they have to) there are more that are hidden. The proverbial iceberg.
There are plenty of these cars around buy if you are set on this one as mentioned get it checked up by a mechanic familiar with them.

I really think that's smart. These cars have some level of complication with certain things that are beyond normal. If he couldn't sort this issue, then who knows what else may show up once it became yours.

If you decide to go back to this car, you must insist on a pre purchase inspection at a dealer or trusted indy. Then the cost of the repair(s) should be reflected in sales price.
