My RENNtech'd E550
Hi guys, just sharing pics of my 550 all the way from AK! This was my first MB and I love it. Ordered it November "13 and arrived May "14(dealer promised 2 months MAX...ended up taking over 6 months...almost canceled it but I'm glad I didn't). It wasn't until I installed all the Renntech upgrades when I said ,"this is worth every penny". Its plenty fast stock but TUNED....its a completely different animal.
Sometimes I feel like I've done a lot to it but really its not much. Anyways here's what I've done to it:
*Rt- ECU Tune
*Rt- Diverter Valve
*Rt- IC Pump Upgrade
*Rt- >BMC< Air Filter
*Resonator(s) Deleted
*Vorsteiner Trunk Lip Spoiler (cf-color matched)
*OEM AMG Front Grille
*OEM AMG Rear Diffuser/Tips
*Vertini RF1.1 Wheels 20x9 & 20x10
*Michelin PS4S 245/30/20 & 275/30/20 (wish i would've gotten 35's for the front instead)
*Lowering Links
Planning On Getting The Future Design Front Lip Soon And More Performance Upgrades!

Thanks! I Appreciate it! The pipes are DEI Gold Heat Wrapped (not only does it look good but it also helps in keeping the IAT down)

Looks very nice. Good luck with the Airmatic, I specifically shopped for a 2012+ because they didn't have it. Only thing I would like to have more than my 2012 E550 is the 2014 facelift version with a few more options.

Can you tell me more about the power gain after the tune? Do you really feel the difference even in the first gear. I've heard to prevent tranny damage, the tune doesn't kick in until second gear. Is that true?
I have the same 4.7 biturbo engine, the car is fast straight line, but cannot really "power slide" unless steering wheel is turned left/hard. Perhaps I just need to learn how. I put it in the second gear on highway ramps and floor it, and it accelerates and turns as a train on railroads. I want the backend to come out like in an AMG car.

I was told that the tune of turbo cars is just increasing the max boost, so you get all the gains at the top when it's boosting hard and you can still drive it mildly. Makes sense to me.
If you have 4matic you're not going to slide anything. Even with the traction control off its not totally off unless you put it in dyno mode. All the E550 sedans with the Biturbo have 4matic, maybe you have a coupe though, but there is another section of the forums for coupes.
