Rim color help!!!
I know I'm gonna get alot/some sh*t for this, but here we go. I have a 2014 Black W212 Sport with the 18 inch double 5 spoke AMG rims. I am also in the process of blacking out the car. OH GOD here comes the ridicule...I LOVE the AMG rims and I would like to keep my modding costs down right now. Therefore, I would like to PLASTI DIP my rims a Black color. I would really appreciate some feedback, opinions, and suggestions. I am thinking of the following possible colors:
MATTE BLACK
SATIN BLACK
GLOSS BLACK
SATIN BLACK with a hint of BRONZE
SATIN DARK BRONZE (like the Chrysler 300 OEM)
SATIN BLACK with METALIZER
BLACK with PEARL (if even possible)
OPEN TO ANY SUGGESTIONS....

I have only got compliments on the W212. So, I would think most people think it looks good. The matte black on the W212 has just enough glare that they have life, as opposed to flat that can look like a bad photoshop job.

Well, that's subjective. Many of my vehicles have matte black wheels (3500 Dually, F350, K5, and Ford Focus). I simply like the look.

Lol im slowly converting from matte trim to glossy.
ive had plastidip on wheels for couple years , cheap , and well worth it , just take time and add more coats. And it it somewhat glossy even without metallizer/glossifier.
maybe oneday will powdercoat the wheels glossy as well....but for now be happy with my matte black

I like the bronze touch idea but do what YOU want
IMO the plasti-dip is cost effective way to see if you like the look, then later you can always have the rims powdercoated if you want a more permanent solution.

If possible spray it with a HVLP gun. Also look at Raail coatings. Very similar but a bit more refined finish quality than plasti dip. If you think you're going to get **** for the wheels, imagine what I'm going to face considering I think I'm going to spray my entire car with it for winter . LOTS of coats make all the difference in the world for removal from what I've gathered.

And just FYI for anyone interested. I paid $80 per 18" wheel for my local PC place to caustic, sandblast, and powder coat them. So, that is $320 total. Seemed to be the going rate down here in SoCal anyway. Center caps were spray painted with a like color (since they are plastic).
