So I just bought this, waiting for it to be delivered. I was asked if I had the Black with White stitching (I don't) We'll see if it matches.

SKullman, I'm VERY interested to hear how it works out. If it's a good match and it fits well, I'll be buying one as well! $150 is much better than the 300 I was looking at.

Bump, I waited to order until you received yours. If you wouldn't mind when you get it, I would love your quality and color match opinion !

Just arrived. The color match looks pretty good, material texture also looks good. I have a feeling the disassembly and fitting are going to be an arm burner. I might just go through the effort to add steps, depends on what I can already find online.

Awesome, and thank you very much for the response. For me, this is likely at the limit of my skillset, LOL. But I'm going for it, ordering now. I have watched a number of videos, that likely just makes me more dangerous!

I believe another member did this and lost his heated seat function, might have to do with difficulty removing the seat heating wire connector. Thanks again!

Thanks for the followup and pictures, SKullman!

I went ahead and ordered a tan seat for mine and got it in today. Overall, it's a decent replacement but are some differences so I figured I'd share them here for posterity. I'm still pondering if it's worth it to spend twice as much for a perfect match. I doubt anyone other than me would notice anything, but I am the target audience. It also occurred to me that it may not wear the same since I don't think it's real MBTex.

I think the color is a good match, but I'd have to look at it in the sunlight to be sure. The grain looks pretty darn close. The perforation isn't nearly as dense, and the cloth material on the side is much different (though you don't see much of it, so maybe who cares?). The leather feels noticeably different, and the stitching is much bigger.

I think I'd buy the OEM one.. the difference in stitching and perforation density would bug me.

yeah, I concur. maybe if I had to replace ALL the seats on an older car, I'd go aftermarket, as the cost of OEM would add up doing both front+rear seats concurrently.

Damn, me too. Mine will arrive tomorrow, maybe black will be better... {right} They do have a liberal return policy, which it looks like I will be availing myself of, damn.
Atraudes, thank you for replying, much appreciated. I may take the old one out, and have it sewn by a seamstress that works with leather after I order the OEM.

I'm going to take back what I said about the perforations. I just went for a drive and at a light I noticed the perforations on the passenger seat were a lot different. I just compared and the back seats match the passenger too. For some reason my driver's seat is much denser. I'm guessing at some point the PO got it replaced at an upholstery shop. Anyway, here is a comparison to the passenger seat, which is a much better match.

Interesting, I was wondering that, mine do not match your seat lower either as far as hole density.

Edit: actually your lower doesn't match your upper huh? because it looks like it matches the passenger seat also, much denser pattern on the drivers seat bottom?

Yep, looks like! I'm questioning my own sanity now. Crazy how you can see something every day and not really see it Now I can't see anything else!

My black one arrived today, texture matches, color matches and hole density matches, Quality looks good. also the stitching matches around the perimeter, very happy. I was worried, but looks like it turned out OK! Now for the install, oh boy...I will take some pictures, but a busy weekend approaches, will try and get this done ASAP.

No kidding! The stitches on yours are the same as the original?

Yes very close, maybe a millimeter further spread but not much, they were a little puckered but a seamstress friend said that would flatten out when it was installed a while and reminded me I could use a heat gun sparingly and massage them flat.
My sides are the same as yours, so not the tight woven velour, but as you mentioned earlier you won't see the console side or the front because of the storage box and the door side is a very small exposure, this might get me points deducted at Pebble Beach, but I don't think it's going to be noticeable at all. I also may have mentioned I will take the old one to be re-sewn, I am kinda fussy about stuff like this, but it is a 7-8 year old car now. My seats are black so that also is an easier color than tan where everything shows more prominently.
