No spares any more, in general. Cars come with a tire repair kit - or you can purchase one when you go from run flats to standard tires. The kit includes a small compressor that you use to pump in a sealant. I went from Bridgestone RFT to Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on my BMW Z4 and purchased a repair kit at that time. It's much smaller than a spare.

BMW 5, Audi 6 and 8, and Genesis all come with (some optional) spare tires.

Than bare in mind in Europe you don't have 1000 km distances with no tire shop having the size, like we do in USA.
Frankly I inspected my DEF tank very closely and it doesn't take much reengineering to make space for compact spare on top of it.
MB made big DEF tank that doesn't need filling for 20,000 km between oil changes. I fill up DEF in my Ford every 3000 miles and don't see a problem with it.
So my final conclusion is that MB engineers got lost a bit designing stuff for USA smog requirements, while they don't even drive those cars in Europe.
Agreed. DEF tanks don't need to be so freaking huge. it could have been made smaller or flatter leaving some room for a compact spare.

I can tell you after 6 months of non run flats fuel economy suffers by about 10%. RF must roll better

RF have stiffer walls, what lowers rolling resistance.
You can still get the same by adding +- 10 psi to standard tires.
Tire choice is always compromise.
Than winter temperatures and in some states winter fuel blend do lower mpg quite visible. You Illinois guys did have some chills lately?

for sure the winter blend is less fuel efficient. My best MPG is on hot summer days.
It was so cold at one point I put fuel conditioner in my tank to avoid being stranded. This is my 2nd Mercedes diesel first time adding this stuff. -26F there were many report of dead trucks
Not sure I'll go up 10 psi I do not want the poor ride again
