2014 E350 transmission service (60K miles)
Hi All,
My SA tells me transmission service is due on my 2014 E350 at 60K miles and I also need to get my spark plugs done.
I thought it was at 70K miles. Please advise.
Also, does the torque converter need to be drained like on my 2010 C300?
Thanks in advance!
Appreciate it.

I believe spark plugs are at 60k. Transmission might be at 40 and 80k. Check the service booklet. If you are at the 60k service, you might want to consider buying a 3 service pack from some of the vendors mentioned in the extended warranty sub forum. I believe those service packs include the spark plugs and transmission fluid changes.

It is 40k and then every 80k from what I remember, but the service changes between different engines, so your manual is your best book.

"A" and "B" service alternate every 10k miles or 1year.
engine air filter is due every 40k miles
transmission service is due ever 40k miles up to model year 2011 and 80k miles from model year 2012 and up.
spark plugs are due every 60k miles
This is pretty much applies to all mercedes benz except CLA and AMG models.

The mile-based intervals for air filters were good when filters were $4, but today's MB filters not only cost a lot, but often are bear to replace.
About $10 buys you a Filter Minder. that will tell you when to replace filter based on dirt accumulation.
I drove with the same filter for 80,000 miles and the Minder still show in green.

Useful if you know your engine code - most folks don't
You would think MB could print a service document specific to your car. The 2012+ E350 has the 276 engine which means plug changes at 60K miles and tranny service at 70K. I have found that most service advisors are either uninformed or lying to increase sales, The good news is that the tranny and plug service is less frequent than the E350 of 2011 and older. The bad news is that you have to remove the intake manifold to change the plugs so the plug service is twice as expensive. My local dealer quotes between $500 and $700 depending on which service advisor you talk to. You would think they would have a standard list to look up, but again I think they are trying to boost their own commission. When my SA told me my tranny service MUST be at 40K and that I was wrong, I got a new SA.

The 2 pack pre-paid service is probably a good deal if you go to the dealer at the 60k mark, you get the spark plugs done at 60k, and the transmission done at 70k.

The maintenance manuals are online. Even the old M272 had 60k service intervals for the spark plugs. Those were pretty simple though. Those SA are probably confused, The M272 had 40k transmission intervals and the M276 had the 70k ones.

There's not much of a discount on the pre-paid service, but you could try some of the vendors mentioned in the extended warranty sub-forum or just get it from the dealer.

Are you sure the 2 pack does not include that? I thought they were supposed to include any required maintenance on the schedule. I bought a 3 pack about 4 years ago and it covered ATF, plugs and engine air filter in addition to the normal A and B services.
