Mileage resetting

Mileage resetting
I've bought a 2014 W212 and it is in very good condition with very low mileage which is very suspicious. Is it possible that the previous owner had a mileage reset before selling? Or these vehicles are manipulation proof?

What is very low miles equate to? Dbldpr on here has a 2014 and I think he just cracked 4,000 miles.

Knowing the country where this happen would help.
When in USA dealers, registration and Carfax track mileage at certain intervals, German used car dealers are famous about cutting few hundreds thousands from high-mileage MB used there as taxis or curries.

Some people, like me, drive their car very infrequently per year. It could be that they have a short commute, work from home, or they have multiple vehicles to switch it up with. I only put 25,000 miles on my last E class over a five year ownership.
As previously asked, what's your definition of "very low miles"?
Since you've already bought it, I guess it's a bit late to ask the "I wonder if the mileage was reset?" question...lol. Did you not get a Carfax or ask the seller/dealer those questions first?

These cars are not manipulation proof. Anybody with right equipment can change the displayed mileage in the cluster but I think there are two locations in the car system where it cannot be changed. If I remember correctly these are the engine control module and the transmission control module. You could go to a dealer (other than you suspect tampering with it) and ask them to read the mileage from the said modules to verify if they agree with the displayed mileage in the cluster.

Doubt US dealer will want to go that far, but again, we don't know what country OP is typing from.

You can clear the service history on your cluster if you flash new firmware to it with vediamo and don't backup the information beforehand. I accidentally did this myself but that info is not a big deal anyways, it gets populated again every time you visit a dealership for service. Flashing through xentry will automatically backup that info in your cluster. You can do some crazy things with a star diagnostics. Most certainly possible to modify mileage on the cluster but changing it in the ecu/tcu is a totally different story.

Well, he talks about mileage, not kilometers, so perhaps he is in the U.S.
