Tires
Conti ProContact tires are at 3-4/32 nds at 18 KMI on my E350 4 matic. The car is being leased and I need to replace them with a tire that will allow me to return the car at 36 kmi with sufficient tread left. Any suggestions? I'm looking at Conti PureContacts with supposedly 70kmi tread warranty.

I've got close to 30k miles on ControlContact tires (E350)and they have a bunch of miles left. I had Pure Contacts on 3 other cars in the past and was happy with them. IMO the Continentals are a very good all around tire.

Thanks guys for the info. I've always had good experience with the Contys except for my current E350. As I sad pro contacts are at 3-4/32 nds after 18 K miles. I like how they drive however.

Heh, my Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position tires on my rear only lasted 10k miles. My fronts still have over 50% tread though, got the whole set at the same time. Guess that's an indication of how I drive. Anyway, don't get these if you want longevity.

I haven't tried PureContacts, but they are rated as longer lasting than the ProContacts. I've run ProContacts on my MBs with good success. I will be buying Continentals again when the time comes.

I still think the Conty Pro Contact is an excellent tire. They are my winter tire. I switch to a 19” E63AMG wheel and the Potensa SO-4 pole position for summer only. I have only used Conty tires for all season use with good traction and wear.

The best price I found on the Purecontacts were from this site, $126 a tire for the 17s, $150 for the 18's:

But you're probably better off going to a tire store that price matches as usually they charge you extra for mounting/balancing if you didn't buy the tires there. Plus they're cheaper than the Procontacts.
