Help With AMG Offsets on a E350!
Hey all,
I'm upgrading the wheels on my 2012 E350 4Matic. I've got some cheap 19 inch S63 replicas on there, one cracked, so they're going to the curb.
I'm looking to put some E63/CL63 19s on the car, with 8.5, all around. I'm seeing the car came with 38mm offset wheels and that some of these are 35, 45, and all over the place.
Can anyone offer a piece of advice? I want the wheels to fit nice and flush without the need for spacers but I'm unsure what AMG-style wheels I should be shopping for.

Stock ET all around for your 4M is 48, not 38. There is no 8.5” wide E63 AMG wheel that I am aware of. Fronts are 9”, but you’ll never mount them on the rear with their offsets. Have you looked around here to see what others have done with 19” wheels? The options are unlimited.

My car came to me, with 19 inch S63 AMG Wheels that are replicas - 8.5 front and 9.5 rear, both 245/40s with a 35mm offset - so they look fierce and pretty aggressive. I actually like the stance.
I was considering upgrading, but I'm having a hard time visualizing how anything else would look on the car. I'd like to be able to rotate the tires, but the staggered look IS pretty cool.

Like KEY said - options are unlimited.
Since you already know the size/offset that you have, you can also see how much clearance the wheels have in the fenders for potential for wider wheels.
You will find bunch of online wheel calculators that will calculate the offsets for you .

Get whatever you like, but the only real advice on what to stick with would be factory. The cracked rim you have is already a clue. I have a set of 18 and a set of 17 inch rims on both MBs. On the 17's I've had two bent rims, on the 18, I've had one cracked and 2 bent rims. A few flats and bubbles too. Not a fan of larger tires and rims. Whatever you get, make sure you can get a spare and not just some fancy limited edition wheel where you won't be able to find one when one cracks. Even factory isn't all that great, but at least the alignment is set up correctly. Check for unusual tire wear if you don't have a stock set up. Stock was either 245/40/18 or 245/45/17 all around. So 245/40/19 is already bigger than stock, do you have any speedometer issues? I'd check your speed vs the GPS.

The cracked wheel I mostly attribute to the horrendous potholes over here during the winter.
I do like the stance and the look of the wheels, so I'm a bit conflicted. My handling is a bit lackluster, but I can't tell if that's the car or the wheel/tire configuration.
As a reminder, it came to (me) with replica S63 AMG wheels, 245/40/19 all around, 35mm offset (as opposed to 45mm stock) on 19x8.5s and 19.9.5s in the rear. It looks GREAT but if I have to change the tires to have the car perform better, I can do that.

I'm not sure what you mean by perform better. All performance comes with a trade off. That's the point of engineering. You can make it perform better in one respect, but it will be worse in others. The factory set up is one set of compromises. One of them being how everyone seems to like the looks of bigger wheels and better handling, but that comes at the expense of flat tires and cracked rims.
Those Hondas who ride on 155 tires and 60 psi have humongous mpg.

And as an engineer, that's the first I've heard of that!
Anyway, the car came with these wheels - it wasn't my decision. I'm looking for some safe bets and trade-offs because as it stands, I don't believe the offset and width provides any tangible benefit outside of looking good.

It isnt terrible per se, it’s livable. But it’s a bit of a contrast coming from my ‘14 Q50. Perhaps it simply doesn’t handle as well as I’m expexting? It’s the sport package if that makes any difference. I’m unsure if that includes a different suspension though.

Any suggestions on best performing tire? I don't drive in the winter, as I mainly work work from home.
