2011 E550 4matic tire upsize
Can someone please help me out with my tire sizes. I have a 2011 e550 4matic and I want some tires with more sidewall but don’t want to mess with my 4matic system or have rubbing issues. Thank you

If your brakes allow the space to downsize your rims, you can run fatter tires without messing with anything. Overall circumference would be the same.

More sidewall would mean a 17 inch rim. Not sure about the E550, but on the E350, 245/45/17's were also an option. They didn't really get much better than that for sidewall. In the W211 days, they had 16 inch tires and 55 series sidewalls but now I think those won't fit because of the brakes. Even with 17 inch rims, I've had a couple bent rims, but no cracked one yet. Had one cracked rim on an 18.

thank You for the reply I hit a pothole so my 2 winter rims are gone I’m using my summer rims which are 245 40 18. So I can’t go any fatter on the rubber with 18s?
