Mercedes E350 Sport
Front Facing Camera
Just recently bought a 2016 E350 Sport and noticed it has a small front facing camera on the windshield attached to the rearview mirror

Could this be set up to record or view on the display?

If not, what is it used for?

It is the multifunction camera that operates your lane tracking assist, if you have that option and/or the auto high beam. No it cannot be used as a camera for any other function.

Could be your car equipped with night vision camera.

There's a company that sells a kit that installs in that same area that acts as a dash cam and records.

You can contact them. Mine is a 2013 (same style as yours) and they were able to verify that it'll fit.
