I'm actually the OP from several years ago. I ended up with the E400 and a JB4 and have been quite happy with the performance. From what I've seen of M278s as they age, I think I made the better choice in terms of reliability (cooling plumbing/cylinder scoring). Glad to hear you've been happy with the choice! Call me a gambler, but I just bought a 2014 E550 last week.... to go with the 2013 I've had for a few years. Let me know if you want to exchange notes :rolleyes:

Definitely hoping to avoid the dreaded 'bore score and seven cylinders ago' haha. The good news is that the 2013 E550 (owned since '19) hasn't been driven hard, lives a pretty easy life and goes ~8k/mi a year at most with an A/B service every ~6mo. Same will be true with the 2014, and the bonus with that one is a powertrain warranty - for a pitiful monthly sum compared to the potential of something like an M278 grenade and peace of mind provided.
