My Fuel door went missing while parked at the airport. The underlying plastic door is still there, It looks like only the metal exterior is gone. Does anyone know how it is attached to the plastic door and if I can replace it myself? Ive seen the door online for about $60. MB wants about $400 to replace it but I want to try my self. Thanks in advance.
Is that a paint chip lower left? If so, then I bet someone did try to pry the door open.
he painted flap is probably sitting on the parking garage floor where the car was parked (and probably scratched up by subsequent parkers).
Happened to me. These doors just slide/clip on -- no screws or glue. You can definitely install yourself in under 3 minutes. However, you cannot buy them painted. They come primed. You need to take it to a body shop to paint in a shade of your factory color that actually matches the rest of the car. In NY, altogether, without the dealer, it cost me about $200.
