w212 stuck in park
Hey guys,
I bought that W212 E350 but in the past month the car has twice been stuck in park.
The shifter is up by the steering wheel so I do not know where the release is.
The first time I went to work with my dad's toyota and when I got home in had no problems. The second time is right now I had to go out
but the shifter will not leave Park. I read about break light switches and such but there seem to be non of the symptoms.
Could you please give me some advise and also tell me if there is an emergency release on the shifters that are by the steering wheel?
In case I go to wash it or something and can't leave

from all the posts i find inside and outside of mbworld, seems good power is needed, so if you have a jumpstart device you could try that, but i would be checking your battery and charging system to make sure your fully charged...

Hi, great to know that it sortet the problem for you. But did you only change the main battery or also the additional battery/ AUX battery? The reason for asking is because I see that this is also mentioned as a hypothesis for the issue in another thread but all electronics work as expected and the car turns on just fine, so I am not sure I understand how the battery could cause this issue 🤔

Low voltage is the issue. Some components are more tolerant of lower voltages some are not.

This is why I recommend replacing batteries when they start to show signs of degradation. Why prolong the inevitable and possibly subject yourself to these hassles. I suppose I had to learn the hard way too....

Sorry to bump an only thread but I had to reply to this. I had the exact some problem today in my 2011 e63. The damn thing got stuck half way out of the car wash and would not go into gear! Just would not budge out of P no matter what I tried. They had to shut the whole place down for like 2 hours. It was so embarrassing! Had to end up getting it towed (by a very creative tow truck operator!) to a local repair shop. They called later in the day and said it’s something electrical…so I’m waiting anxiously until they diagnose and fix. SMH!
