Diving this 2013 tomorrow

I hang around the w204 side a lot since I thought this was the car I wanted but in my search, I found a W212 here.
Will drive it tomorrow. Are your eyes telling you something weird about it. Not sure I like the totally black look inside. Can you tell whether the options are pretty decent on it?
Thanks for your help.

Looks sharp to me - leather, keyless go (maybe), xenons, pano but no folding rear seats or ventilated front seats (highly over-rated as I find mine barely work).

Good luck!

Car is looking sharp, I think the silver/ black interior color combo is my favorite lol. You are however missing a couple of options that are really important imo. There's no p2 package, which means no xenons that have the active curve illumination, no self closing trunk, no keyless go, and no folding seats. The xenons alone are worth the admission of p2, as the coverage from the lights is way better than stock halogens, and the curve illumination is extremely helpful. You're also missing Parking sensors, which are quite handy, and there's no drivers aids as well on this car, not even the lane tracking package.

It's a fairly basic option car, and I think if you hold off, you could find a way better equipped car for about the same money.

Use this vin decoder to see what options it has.

https://www.datamb.com/

The major options on that car is the pano sunroof, real leather, dynamic seats, keyless go, sports package and Pzev. As others said, a pretty basic car. P2 would have the headlamp washers for the Bixenon headlamps with the active curve illumination and keyless go. No power trunk closer or folding rear seats. Lane tracking and blind spot assist are also nice options to have, but if it had the driver's assistance package, that would also have included distronics which is adaptive cruise control. You can change out the wood, but the wood kit retails for around 3k. You might be able to find a used set on eBay for a few hundred or I guess you could always wrap it with some other color.

Thanks à lot for taking the time to look at the add. I did mbdata to decode but admit some of the codes are not clear.
One of you says keyless, the other says no. I will see today.
Is pzez a valuable option?
I come from bimmer and trade wood trim often. Just wondering if black is desirable.

Again, thanks, I will report back later today after driving it.

Normally the P2 package comes with the bixenons and keyless go. I think someone else probably thought that because it didn't have the bixenons, it didn't have keyless, but you could get that as a separate option. So it has keyless, but no bixenons.

Pzev isn't that valuable, but certain items are covered up to 15 years/150k as opposed to a basic model. For instance the fuel tank is covered for that time period. This could have been good/bad for the W211 because there was an issue with the fuel tank in the older model, non Pzev had an unlimited mileage warranty, but they didn't extended it to Pzev so if you were in a non-pzev state, or were over the mileage, it wasn't covered. As there's no issue so far with the W212, it's probably better to have it than not.

As for whether black is desirable, that's up to the buyer. For me it doesn't add anything. It's something that could be retrofitted, but like all options they're always expensive to do after the fact. If you want one with a lot of options, the first thing to look for is either the P2 package or the lighting package on the 2014+, those are pretty rare options and then see what else the car has. Seems like only 10-20% of them out there have those.

Car is very nice except for couple of small dings And a scratch or two. Very clean, solid, power is ample. I was thinking it was going to be bigger than that. Couldn't get a feel for the steering wheel and whether I liked it or not. All Functions I tested worked. The rear shade was a little stubborn. It does have the keyless go. Dynamic s'est was great.
Battery was dead when we got to it so that's a point to fix.
Need a second drive with attention to turns. Not a fan of understeer (read it here somewhere) but it will always keep control I presume. AMG wheels are not trashed. Car has been serviced here all its life so the merc dealership said they would send us the vehicle history (Honda dealership currently selling it).
Wife thinks it's not sporty/young enough.
The dark wood was actually nice in the sun. Very dark inside.
Will think about it.

Greetings from the neighbor...
If you concern with cornering, you might want to test drive a facelift one (2014+) with "sport" option. I liked the feel of the suspension a bit better than pre-facelift and ended up getting one with this option.
As for the dark trim, it is a matter of personal taste. I like the black one that I got.

Thanks Max, I like the E series it turns out. It is not too big either. For example yesterday I was test driving a Series 5 BMW and thought for sure that was too big for me.
Still shopping around. I like the facelifted ones and sport option too.

Quick question, do all Eclass Mercs have the star on the hood? I think (and correct me) that in the C class, only the Luxury trim has the star on the hood.
I ask because the misses doesn't like the star on the hood but likes the E class.

Depends on MY you will have the "target" star on the hood, or flat MB logo on the hood and big star on the grille.
All are replaceable.

As far as I know on 2014 and up E class only the Luxury trim has the star on the hood. The one with Sport trim has star on the grill. Just as kajtec1 said you can change that of course.
But, given you earlier post that you like the sport pkg. option and do not want the "target" star on the hood, it looks like the stars are aligned for you already .... ;-)

Hmmm, thanks guys. Being able to remove the target and replace it with a flat logo is good info. Didn't know that.
Somehow, all the Eclass I am looking at 2012-15 have the "target" on the hood even the sport ones :scratcheshead

2014+ had the flat badge with the sports package. Prior to that, even the sports package had the flat badge. I like the target, I swore I was going to get a flat badge if it ever broke, but I ended up breaking it once when I forgot the star was there when I was brushing snow off the car and snapped it. Ended up spending almost $40 on a replacement star although the flat badge is around $20 and there's all different types. It's the same star on all their models.
