Upgrade 2014 Backup Camera
I had a 2018 loaner and the camera is leaps and bounds over the 2014 camera. The W213 resolution is UHD compared to the VGA camera in the W212--clearly it cannot be attributed to software.
Anyone know if the W212 camera can be upgraded to the W213 cam?
Seems like it could be a simple swap of hardware, since that is what's is actually capturing and delivering the photo...provided the connectors are the same.

Funny cause I said the same thing .. I couldn't believe how clear it was in comparison to my 2015 .. I would like to know the same thing..

I don't know for sure, But I would bet that both the camera and the screen in the dashboard have higher resolution. In addition to that, I'd also bet that the COMAND software is a later version in the newer models. You would probably have to retrofit the entire signal chain -- camera, head unit and screen to get the benefit. Probably easier to just buy the newer car.

Lol I think u are right.. it's more than just the small camera ..the system would have to b compatible with the high resolution.. thanks
