So I was in the process of upgrading my pins to the amg ones for the rear doors. Removing the door panel was easy, however, putting on the new pins is another story. I couldn’t get them to pop on, there is a rib on the plastic pin (circled in red) that the amg pin attaches to. It does not go on, I was trying so hard that I broke the plastic pin (circled in red) in the process. I’m beginning to think that it has to get glued on to secure it, thoughts?
Also what part number/s do I need to replace the plastic pin that’s attached to the cable? I’ve been googling, but nothing is clear on what I need

A few of us on the CLS forum have glued them on with crazy glue, but more as a way to avoid removing the door panel. The glue seems to be working fine. I've had mine installed for a few months now without issue.
Are the door pins meant to sit flush deep inside when closed?
Mine dont go in all the way?
they are meant to sit flush when locked. The back ones should be flush by default because they are much shorter than the front ones. Regarding the front, they screw on, so if they aren’t sitting flush for you, just screw them in some more
The rear doors in mine do not open if you pull the handle twice when the door is locked, there is no lock or unlock button either. So if the rear door pin sits flush how does one open the rear door?

there is either a setting that controls if the rear doors unlock/lock when the car is in park, or you may have the child locks engaged
Child locks are not enabled. They are disabled on both sides. Pulling the door handle from inside with the door locks does nothing. At least on mine.
the rear doors will unlock if you open the front door first, correct? If so, then there is a setting to have all doors unlock when you put it in park. Not sure how to do this, best to go to the dealership, or make a new post on the forum.

I have a coupe, not sure if that makes a difference. But mine are popped up a little bit. The definitely do not go in all the way.

If you're letting out rear passengers and not getting out yourself then I would rather not have to open the front door or press unlock.
My concern is with drop-off at school or camp etc. or worse in case of accident or emergency how does the rear passenger exit.
On every other European vehicle I've owned if you pulled the door handle twice it open the door. Not so on this E63 Wagon.

Same with my 2010 E550 sedan. Rear doors cannot be opened from inside of door is locked. For emergency situations I would never replace the door pins with something that goes flush when doors locked.
Thank you for confirming. This is my major concern as well. I have more interest in my passengers than the aesthetics of a door pin and without a unlock button or manual way of escaping the vehicle I dont think I am going to pursue this change.
