Angry New rear bumper cover

I gouged up my rear bumper cover on my ‘14 sport model today . It was against a rough textured wall in an underground parking structure so the scratches are deep. It looks like it will need to be replaced. Does anyone know about what I should expect that to run?

TIA.

You can literally repair a bumper split in half nowadays, are you really sure you need to replace yours because of some scratches?

Body shops can do some amazing things to refinish existing bumper covers.

...sucks to read... i feel your pain... wife didn't pull far enough into the garage and door came down on bumper... joy! - got it covered under comprehensive insurance coverage so not too bad...

there are so many variables in the cost to replace... oem, aftermarket or junk yard, painted or unpainted... you get the idea...

as you can see here... the bumper cover could run anywhere from $100 to $1000 depending... then to paint would be $200 to $300 on the cheap to upwards of $500 to $800+ for top notch with warranty...

depending on your insurance deductible and policy, it may be worthwhile to ask your agent if your rates would go up if you submitted a claim... ask if you could submit under your comprehensive coverage instead of collision, as a comprehensive claim shouldn't impact your rates going forward and the comprehensive deductible may be lower, but be sure to ask your agent for specifics...

good luck.

Just a small correction.. because he was in control of the vehicle and he was operating the vehicle, this will be a collision. The reason you were able to get away with comprehensive was because it was a moving object hitting a vehicle, OP's case is a moving vehicle hitting a stationary object.

thanks, and yes, while most likely needing to be filed (if a claim is filed) as collision, certainly worth asking your ins agent about imo... you'd be surprised how a supportive agent can file claims friendly to the insured while still being appropriate...

Here are some pics of the damage. The scratches created abrasions in the plastic.

California prices to fix that would be around $700-800. That is considered repairable all day sir, even if there was a hole through the plastic it is repairable. Any decent shop would have a turnaround time on that repair in about 1 business day.
