2010 e63 mufflers in to a 2010 e550

So, I purchased these Mufflers from a guy on here. And I guess I didn't do my research because I didn't realize E63 Mufflers where dual out. I guess I'm kind of confused because all the AMG style tips have a single Inlet... I was so stoked to see my package delivered..cut out of work early and begged the exhaust guy to stick around while I picked up the box and drove straight to the shop. I didn't even open the box until I got there and these Mufflers came from a 2011 E63... not too stoked I didn't see any AMG stamp on it. But I even contacted the guy and he texted right back that he swears 100% they came off his car. Anyway the problem lies into I originally thought I read I could keep the stock tip until I ordered a new diffuser. Keeping in mind I live in Podunk Kansas and the exhaust guy only deals with big trucks.. was telling me that the swap was not going to work.

he was also concerned how any tips would be flush with the car and or diffuser. And how something that looks the same as my exhaust currently on the car would even produce any different noise. Ultimately he was saying it was going to be a really tough drawn-out project to get these Mufflers to fit in there much less to have tips on them. Since they are dual out I am guessing none of the eBay style AMG tips will work. I told him I would order the tips and have my diffuser on before I came back. I don't know I guess I'm really confused as I haven't heard a lot of problems from others trying to get the Mufflers put on. Is it really that much harder? Could someone please be so kind to tell me where he could get tips that would work with this thing.

It may be difficult to find oem E63 tips by themselves. You could easy find some quad round or oval tips and call it a day. You'll definitely need an oem AMG diffuser or an aftermarket CF one. Otherwise you'll need to cut the stock diffuser to fit quad tips. Good luck!

thank you so much for the reply. I guess I should have figured actual AMG tips would be next to Impossible. I think I have a diffuser coming the guy I spoke with was just really busy until this weekend. But swapping out the mufflers should be no big deal right?.. this guy was totally not thinking there was any room

So does the mechanic need to use a y pipe and combine the two outlets in to one?

Does anyone here, who has done a e63 muffler swap to a 550 have any pictures of how it was mounted? Please! I'd be forever grateful

Mine was plug and play after diffuser swap.

Unfortunately I didn't take pics of the install.

Mufflers were attached to original pipes...no need to fabricate anything.

This eBay auction (where I bought mine) shows the W212 e63 exhaust...

After install...

Good Luck!

take your car to an exhaust shop, they'll know what to do.
they can block off one exit and weld the AMG tips you have to the other exit

do ypu think doing that (welding one exit shut) will affect sound? Went to second shop today. It was a no go. I did get the middle resonator cut while it was up in the air. Very very small difference on wot... i looked under and it seems lile theres room..especially if you remove the material between the exhaust and the wheel..duno if i wanna do that though . They said no room to fab y pipe...... i dont get it. Its like nobody wants to tale time and do it i guess.

Have you checked to make sure this is a real 63 muffler? I could be wrong but I always thought, at the least, the 212 63 mufflers have dual exit exhaust tip, the ebay link above for pre face lift shows 2 separate tips exiting the muffler, and my facelift 550 with e63 muffler also has dual exit from mufflers itself(face lift does not come with amg exhaust tips attached)

your photo looks like a regular muffler possibly? Just curious because it just has the one exit pipe. Maybe look for a part code and confirm where it came from. The amg mufflers, I dont believe, have the ///amg stamp on it.

my mufflers below with the dual exit pipes for context

Actually never mind all that, I see the dual exits where the hangers are... I'm looking at it backwards..

Anyways on my facelift they mount just fine, no modifications necessary, the shops here in the bay area would probably try to weld a small y-pipe then connect your aftermarket y-pipe exhaust tips.
or maybe you could consider just connecting each exit pipe to a single pipe leading to the diffuser. You'd then just fab on some rectangular or circle aftermarket tips
