2010 E350 M272 Engine
I found a 2010 E350 with 49000k miles, the MB dealer is asking $16.900, I had a 2010 GLK350 and traded it in 2016, which it had the M272 engine, I never had an issue with that engine, only traded the GLK as it had 100k miles and I thought I felt the tranny starting to slip, so off it went, I got a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. Is the M272 engine overall better and more reliable over the newer M276, I know the M276 is DI and I have read a lot about carbon build up, but other than that is the M272 just better overall? If I get an E350 I do want the star on the hood, which this one has, I know MB is slowy getting rid of the hood star on all models.

They have their different set of issues. That one is low mileage so you won't run into the intake manifold problem for a while. They can fail anywhere from the 80-120/140 range and then you need a new intake manifold which is close to $500 plus labor although sometimes you can make some repairs which may make it last a few years longer but if parts inside break off, it could cause engine damage so it's best to just replace it. The M276 requires you to take the intake off in order to change the spark plugs. Other than that, still solid. M272 also has issues with oil cooler, tensioner/pulley/belts, thermostat. But I consider those minor issues and just part of maintenance. M276 also jumps up to 302hp vs 268hp for M272.

You can always put the hood star on the hood. The later 2014+ models with the sports package got rid of the star, but it has a flat badge where you can still make the swap. You could also swap grills if you didn't like the sports grill. The star is about $30-$40, don't get the cheap $20 one from China, it doesn't quite fit.

Thanks for the info. My GLK350 had the M272 and it was fine, traded it at 102k miles. The big question for me is do I trade a 37k mile Wrangler for a 49k 2010 E350 and go back in years. I think I would rather have the M272 engine. Plus th e hood Star is slowly going away and I like it more than in the grille

If that is the car you are looking at, its pretty. You dont often see them in blue. The real question is do you want to ride around in a noisy, rough riding jeep as a daily driver or an E? I'd put the reliability at about the same, though the Benz is going to be more expensive to fix if you dont do your own wrenching. Your call.
