2015 W212 how to add apple carplay?
So ive got a new to me 2015 E63 S. One of the features I wish I had was apple CarPlay. I have ntg4.7 COMAND unit. Does anyone have any experience or and links to how I can go about making this happen? Thanks in advance!

So far what I've read is the unichip and the 10.25 screen unit ...I have a 2015 212 aswell and been doing research .. so that's the only 2 option .. if are cars were a 2016 model it would be a lil different

Guys,
Thank you for all the the extremely useful information first and foremost.
I have a 2016 a207 e550 (convertible) that i just bought. Shouldnt the a207 have the Carplay option? i Have a flyer in which it is advertised as retro-fit. I showed the flyer to the dealer and he didnt know anything. I paid $200 for the firmware update. Now i have the carplay option in the dealer menu.
Do i need ot reach out to vladimir? The chinese dongle does not work? I have seen some video in which they show it works. Fake?
Thank you

@orlandoblues Send me your VIN number in PM and I will check. If it is possible I can help for free, as long as you are in the U.S.A. and you have a multiplexer/J2534 device.

However, if you first pay a dealer to do a "flashware" upgrade to the latest for the NTG/COMAND stuff, there are third parties who can recode the "unsupported" options and I can attest it works great. I thought it was all model year 2016 E's. The updated COMAND unit has chrome strips between the black buttons
Edit, there is a post below this that has a complete how to, but requires a laptop, a specific ODBC diagnostic tool, and some software. You can update the flashware yourself now.

I used the 4.5 version of the below product. Best $240 I ever spent.

ACP/Android Auto has been retrofitted to my 2016, and it works fine.
Everything you need to know is in this long thread... https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...2016-w212.html

Here's the DIY thread I found last night
https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...vated-diy.html
its over in AMG land, but its equally applicable to all 2016 W212's with NTG 5.1 COMAND.
this includes doing the required flashware update yourself, as well as the feature coding... apparently someone has 'cracked' that process and has made all the Mercedes flashware (firmware) upgrades available. You apparently need to buy a bootleg of some Mercedes engineering software, I found it online for around $200, plus a $17 ODBC cable
