Anything preventative while changing trans fluid?

Have all the tools ready to change trans fluid on a 11 E350 40k miles. Running perfectly.

Anything that I should do while in there?

Someone here mentioned that no one ever drains the torque converter, you could try doing that too :B

Yes definitely doing that. I just started reading about valve body or conductor plate problems. Mine has none but willing to do something while in there to prevent it.

My '11 has the torque converter drain plug, and yours should too. Just turn the crank bolt to get the plug to show, then pull it out to drain.
Replace the filter of course, and clean the magnets in the pan. Be VERY careful not to get anything like even lint inside the trans.

Once back together you will need to fill with the blue fluid thru the bottom, start the car, shift thru the gears, fill some more, then run the car until the trans pan reads 80 degrees C, and drain until it dribbles.
Not that difficult, just time consuming.

Yep cool. Have WIS printed out to do that. Thanks.

Any thoughts about these speed sensor or conductor plate issues?

I would say leave them alone until they are a problem. It may only affect 5-10% of all 7 speed cars, so we may go a lifetime without a problem, or it could happen tomorrow.
I believe the 722.9 trans requires 'marrying' the conductor plate to the trans with an SDS, which only a dealer can do, so there is no sense messing with the CP.
I think the speed sensor can be changed without SDS, but don't quote me.

+1 on the conductor plate issue. Dealer work only. Dont even worry about it unless you start experience erratic or jolty upshift/downshifts. I dont think I've even heard of that issue on the later models 722.9 with the torque converter. Mostly just with the earlier 7 speeds when they first came out
