E350 Bluetec Estate (S212)
E350 bluetec rattle

Hi All,

Had my E350 Bluetec Estate (2015) with the 9G box, for a week now. I've noticed when coasting upto a junction in town, either very light throttle or off the throttle, I can hear a faint rattle. Seems to occur 1300-1500rpm.

I can't replicate it under load, or just by revving the engine in neutral. Part of me is suspecting its coming from the gearbox area rather than engine.

Are there any known issues with these? Torque converter etc? I've had a search around but there is very very little out there on the 9 speed box.

I'd like to confirm if I had some kind of an issue or not whilst I might have some come back with the dealer. I did get a 6 month warranty though as well.

No noise on cold start up so doubt it is timing chain related.

Appreciate any advice

Thanks

In my case, a faint rattle was coming from the metal mesh cover next to the windshield. If your rattle disappears or changes depending on the road conditions, ask your passenger to check this area while driving.
