Odd issue - ESP/TCS disabling when flooring it from a standstill
Today was my first time matting the accelerator from a complete stop, just for fun to see what kind of off the line performance Helga has. Yes previously I have been able to punch it down for passing, etc but never from complete stop. Well immediately the ESP and TCS disabled and got the warning triangle, ESP off light and the notice in the cluster and the car went into this horrific limp mode where it cut power to probably 25% (could barely get up the hill I was climbing and had to put my hazards on), the power would come back after maybe ~5 seconds.
So turn car off and back on and everything is back to normal, decide to try again and sure enough same exact result. It is so odd as I can hit the gas anywhere up to hitting the stop and everything is fine, also I can hit the pedal stop while moving and everything is normal. It's only from a complete standstill it does this and it will always reset itself after a shutoff and restart.
Any ideas, my only thought is a failing throttle position sensor.
Appears MB has updated the part # too - old # is A 204 300 11 04 new # is A 222 300 09 00.
Just wanted to to let y'all know as it seems this issue could hit any MB as I learned of the pedal issue from the W204 C63 forum.
