2016 E250 Bluetec 4matic Avantgarde Edition W212
Wheel Offset question for 2016 e250 - 17" wheel winter wheel package for 18" OEM
Hi All -- I am looking at options for a set of winter wheels/tires for my 2016 W212 / E250 Bluetec Avantgarde edition with 18" wheels.
The OEM wheels (not staggered) on the car are 18" and 8.5" wide (I believe) with 245-40R18 tires on all 4 corners. According to wheel-size.com the OEM wheel size is 18x8.5 with an ET48 offset but I have seen other references to an 18x8 wheel size.
The standard "minus one" sizing option for winter tires suggested by sites such as tirerack would be 245-45R17. I have an option to pick up a set of these from an older generation E-class and the wheels they are mounted on are 17x7.5 with an ET37 offset.
Will that be a problem on this car? The difference in offset would bring the 17" wheel a bit further outward, but the smaller rim diamaeter of 7.5 in will help compensate for this. I am thinking I should be OK, and this seems to be further validated by going to tire-rack.com, and looking up 17" package options for my exact vehicle and OEM wheel size as per above. When I do so, Tirerack gives me a number of options with wheels that are 17x7.5 and an ET35 offset which is even less.
Thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for any input!
