im having W212 2009 year, E class - Avantgard.
I have bluetooth telephony which works okay, but i cant stream music via bluetooth from phone.
I know of secret menu and my bluetooth audio option was grayed out there.
Went to MB service and did software update, and now i cant even see grayed out bluetooth audio option.
Anyone knows how to solve this? 16.600 build, new software update Build 20.100 - old software, stock software
Yes Bluetooth audio streaming... This can be turn on in engineering mode as of 2012 models. I am sure there is a way to tweak the software. Why would they put this option in the software otherwise? OK, it is greyed out but still... No, I bought as well a Bluetooth MMI adapter online. But I am not sure whether this cancels the Bluetooth phone function? Do you know that? Which device brand did you buy?

BoVee and it came with the car. The phone will have two BT connections. One to MB (for phone calls) and the other to BoVee (tune2air for streaming).
It’s a bit clunky, but when listening to streamed music and you get a call... you have option answer in-car via command. One issue, after a call it doesn’t always switch back to streaming BT.
I plan to get a CarPlay unit that will have a better interface.
This is possible and worked perfectly fine for me.

Which issue? Streaming music via BT or BT option in engineering mode?
As far as I know, you cannot stream music via BT on these till 2016 model with CarPlay. BT only allows phone calls on earlier models.
On our car, we have a MMI BT adapter that allows streaming music via BT. It emulates a connected iPod.
It was an issue in the 2010 models, the 2011+ models lets you stream bluetooth from your phone. I use mine all the time. Had the firmware updated a while back. Fixed some skipping problems with bluetooth, use to hiccup all the time, updated fixed that. The 2010 could be enabled though, had to go through some hoops to get it working. The W211 wouldn't let you stream music though, only phone calls through bluetooth.

I have the 2010. All I had to do was go to the dealer and get a software update. And now it works just fine. The update also enables the Boost for the volume.

That's the hoop I was referring, didn't work by default, either had to go through the hidden menu or have the dealer do it.
