2011 E350 - Accelerator pedal disassembled
I have always been the type to take things apart to see how they work, now that I have a new pedal assembly installed I figure I could open up my old defective pedal. When I read MB warning that disassembly would result in irrepairable damage I was picturing the ball bearing and spring mess I experienced when I disassembled I think the seat switch in my old '86 300E.
Surprisingly the pedal assembly is a extremely simple affair with a spring mounted in a plastic assembly, rubber bump stop (round orange piece in the below) and the metal end piece. I'm thinking the slot in the pedal portion slots into the sensor and the sensor does all the work. Anyhow pics below for anyone who wonders what the inside of your accelerator look like. This one is going in the trash as it was most likely sending an implausible signal at WOT which would put the car in limp mode, new accelerator fixed that issue for $122+tax. Kick down on this pedal did not have the click, no random parts fell out so not sure what part gives the click.
for your viewing pleasure.

The click is usually a little metal piece on the back of the pedal that pops in when you hit the kickdown point, like a spring that snaps in and out. I don't see it on yours but it looks the the place for it up at the top of the pedal is there.
