2010 E550W4 82K miles thoughts

Currently driving a '07 C280 4matic (W4) 156K, I'm thinking about adding an 2010 E550 4Matic it's got 82K miles and wanted to know if there are any issues I need to look for as I rack up the mileage on this model like I did my W203. - NP

2011 E550
Airmatic would be a big thing, and see if routine was done and documented.

2012 E550 v8-Biturbo
While I have a 2012 with the TT 4.6 engine, when I researched E550s, I looked at the 5.5 NA engine and it seemed bullet-proof to me. I wouldn't be afraid of buying a 2010 with 80K miles.

2010 W212 E550 4matic
I would say go for it if the price is right. I got mine at 88k last February and it did need some TLC, all of which I did myself. You can check my presentation thread to see more details of all the things I repaired/replaced.
It is a nice car, drives smooth, gets decent mpg and can be reliable if you take care of it. 550s also are equipped better so that's another plus IMO. Good luck with your purchase!

2011 E550 - 4Matic, 2008 ML550
I haave had two E550's one was a 2010 -RWD with 136K on it..was great other than I wanted 4matic....So I upgraded to a 2011 E550 4M with 92K - loaded including nightvision! which I do enjoy.
I would check the following-Airmatic as mentioned above
and the engine mounts and trans mounts - those seem to go about 100K ish...
if you do it yourself - parts are about 3-400 ish. if the dealer does it...prob about 1G
I replaced the battery in both of mine with AGM Sears Gold - (the best they had) for much better cranking.
Other than that - I expect to keep my E-4M for as long as I can!

Good luck!
Cheers

I have 157 000 miles on the clock in mine. Runs as it was new.
  • The rear air springs were replaced soon after I got the cat in 2012.
  • I had the center brake light replace is search of rattle source. Nothing was wrong with the light and new one did not help with rattles.
  • Had the fuel door lock replaced also for rattles and this did help some.
  • My car has dropped down in rear twice while parked over night when I left it in Sports mode. It has not dropped down in Comfort mode which is weird. This tells me it is not a leak in the air spring or air tubes to the springs as it would drop regardless of the mode I leave it in. Must be the valve unit issue but have not looked into this yet as the car raises up very quickly after start-up.
If you are buying from a dealer ask them to update the comand software so you will have the AUDIO BLUETOOTH before you sign for the car. They can easily do it and does not cost them anything really to do it unless the car already has it done.
